I had been renting a portable oxygen concentrator from Apria through my Medicare insurance for three years. In December 2023 the unit was stolen from my car. I informed Apria and they instructed me to bring in a police report and they would take care of the issue. I provided the report into them in January 2024. At that time they said a manager would be in contact with me. After several weeks and no replaced unit i contacted them again. They said they could not provide me with a replacement and the issue was turned over to a manager who would be in contact with me. Again no returned call. I then purchased a unit from another source. I then got a letter saying i needed to return the unit. Called them and said i had no unit to return as it was stolen. They said i needed to call my insurance and submit a claim. That i did. Insurance said as this was a third party claim they would require an invoice from Apria showing their actual cost to replace unit. Contacted Apria and asked for them to provide invoice. They said they would have a manager contact me . They then turned over the action to a collection agency. the claim was over $5000 dollars. Apria unit was over three years old. I purchased a new one for under $3000. A refurbished can be purchased for under $2000. More recent i have been contacted by the investigating officer who believes they may have recovered the unit and be released it serial number is provided. Apria stills fails to respond and unit remains in the police evidence room.
