For the Third time I have taken an entire day off to get my installation completed. This has been going on for 2.5 years. The first time a sales rep came out-Uverse was new to the area and they were offering great deals. I signed up, took the day off, & the install tech told me that the signal didnt reach my house. They would call me when it did-never got a call. 7 months later another sales person shows up at my door guaranteeing that I was now able to get Uverse; signed up again, took another day off. This time the tech completed the install of the lines inside the house and out. Went to hook it up-no flipping signal. Two weeks ago a sales person comes out, yup for sure your neighbors all have UVerse and it's available. Dang if I didnt sign up, take yet another flipping day off and lo & behold no signal. This company has serious communication problems within their organization and how ironic; they're a communication company. I am self employed & when I dont work, I dont get paid. I wonder how they would feel if I charged them back for my down time. They SUCK! Staying with Bright House

overcharging and refusing to disconnect services
I have been with AT&T wireless for 4 years and my contract is up on Feb 13 2011. I called the company to disconnect services on the 13 the and was told that I could but I would be charged $60 per line and I have 5 lines and was then told I had to wait till the end of the billing cycle which is the 23rd. So I put in a request to disconnect all services on the 23rd. Well, I just got a bill that was $30 higher then normal. When I called to disconnect they put unlimted text on one line which was $20 then I was charged for text alert on my husbands line. Well, I have text and internet blocked on that line and my husband doesn't even know how to send a text message so what does he need text alert for? Gail told me it was a simple fix, just text on the phone to text alert the word stop and it will only cost me 20 cents to do that. Also charged for 2 long distance calls that should be covered as I did not go over my minutes. The free phones are aweful, they are cheaply made and die right before the 2 years are up so that you take another 2 year contact to get a free phone. Oh, and good luck getting a voicemail, well, you do get them 2 or 3 days later. Not to good when you are left a message that a family member has died and you get the voicemail 2 days later. If the service is so good why do you bind people to a contract. The customer service is awful and with Alejandro I had to wait on hold every time I asked a question so he could find an answer. Alejandro said I can call on the 13th and that I could have the service cut off at that time and no further bill. So I asked for his identifcation # and he said he could only give me his name. Also I would have to pay the full bill and the credit would be given the next billing cycle. UNREAL.
My son in law needed a phone to go overseas and my daughter will also go, they sentj me phones that they said would work in that area, after i got the phones and changed my plan to fit what they told me to do, we checked to make everything was ok and they told us the day before my son who is in the army to be deployed tomorrow that the phones they had us would not work, and they refused to unlock the phones per my request. they lied up until the last minute. if they cannot help the military, who will they help. they lied to me to get more business.
We had an AT&T salesman contact us about a new phone, we told him we did not get good enough service in our area, and we would be canceling all of our phones. He continued to harass us about trying the new phone, because he assured us we would get better service, and if we didn't we could just simply send the phone back to them. Well, the phone didn't work, we called them to pick up their phone and they told us because we had accepted that phone we were signed up for another year.

Called ATT Rep to inquired about ATT Uverse Internet Service on 12/28/11. Rep told me it cost 14.95 a month and the modem is free. I was told that this was not a promo rate, later on I found out it was. Not to mention all additional fee they've added on my bill that I was not told about. I received my bill today 01/17/12 I was shocked how much it was. There was a one time fee of 36.00 did not know that, pro-rated fee of 5.07 did not know that either, modem 100.00 I was told it was free, plus the 14.95 Internet service.
Also, this promo is one year term agreement. which mean you're stuck with it for a year and if you cancel you will pay 150.00 cancelation fee. ATT people are bunch of liars. They will not tell you what they will be charging you. Even when you ask them questions they will tell you what you want to hear to get you sign-up.

Att uverse is trying to charge me for an activation fee when the internet services were not even working. I did a self service installation for the internet and when I tried to install it, it did not work. I called tech support and did some trouble shooting but it still did not work so they called a tech to come out. Before the tech could come out, I cancelled the services. Then like 2 months later I received a bill for the activation fee of $36 plus the early termination fee of $90 I called att customer service line to plead my case of why I should not be charged a fee if I did not even use the services in new my home but the guy from att uverse cust srvc said I still have to pay the fee because the tech still came out to my home to turn on the services prior to me trying to set up the internet myself. I asked him, how do I know the services were turned on if I never got the chance to try them out? He told me the tech said they were and for that I have to pay. Even though I never even used the service! Then I had to pay an early termination fee even though when I cancelled the guy on the phone never even told me I was in a contract and that there would be a fee! Not to mention the customer service dept kept switching me to different depts on the phone without even telling me what was going on. It also seemed fishy every time I asked if they record the phone conversations the phone kept going out and I never got my answer. I requested a supervisor and he said the supervisor will call me back.

This morning, 1/16/12, I contacted uverse for new service. I was shopping for a change in bundled services after 12 years with a carrier. I was presently greeted by a customer service representative and went through all of the screenings, service officers and provided a quote for service. I accepted this quote and agreed to the installation. I was provided an order#, told that an email would be sent out to me with specifics and advised that that the installation would be done on a saturday as I requested, week which would have been 1/28. Well after several hours and attempts to contact to ask a question about the internet service, I finally reached another representative for inquiry. Well, there was no record of my order or call. I was told that the service that I was quoted was not right and that there was something else that uverse would offer me, which would increase the service approximately 25% for the first year and 50% following. This person went from being sorry for me being given the wrong information to sometimes vendors sale services for uverse and get it wrong. Well, vendors, uverse or att, all represent this company and if their offers are that subjective, why would anyone want to risk getting into a business arrangement with them. You know, as we were talking, this fraudulent individual was actually changing all the notes in the system from the call in the morning.
I think I am now going to cancel my wireless service with them as well now and go with someone that is trustworthy.
The best way to let your voice be known and for ATT to care is to contact the governmental regulatory agency that oversees them. In Florida, for example, it's the Public Sdrvice Commission. When I had to finally contact this agency, ATT immediately responded and resolved the issue of incorrectly billing me.

A door to door ### rep talked me into the service with much hesitation. I'm aware of the "deal" that ends after 6 months so I made sure to verify this was not a limited time offer. He told me it would not go up and there was no contract. 6 months later, my bill shoots right back through the roof, matching the amount I was abondoning from TWC. With all the upfront costs and hassles I specifically was not interested in a short term deal. I am filing complaints any way I can, BBB for sure, and will cancel my service. There needs to be some kind of repercussions that ATT must endure for unlawful, deceptive practices. I will do everything I can to marr their name, but I am a small fish...

At&t company is on a mission to take your money over their new promotion offer and services. The scam starts with offering $300 reward or whatever amount delivered to convince you to switch over or signup. Once you switch over, without permission they will charge you close to $60-$100 or over your bill amount. At&t excuse over the phone is that you must pay one month in advance, reconnection fee etc charges u never heard of and (The $40 reconnection fee promised - is never waived as promised at signup) let me not fail to mention that they never say any additional fees and the amount they promise is never what is on your bill, period. At&t keeps the money for themselves; since they know some people will leave the contract because the reward $300 is a scam, or because people figured out that they are scammed in their bill amount. At&t takes your money you paid in advance $. The amount they promise that was $300 you get nothing in return but excuses or maybe if your lucky a $100 or less in reward for the switch and (You have redeem online) (Not as promised amount) as for my father was told he gets no reward and im still awaiting $100 which was suppose to be $300. My father got nothing in return (Reward promised for the switch) at&t excuse was that his services doesn't qualify because he got a special monthly special and your reward doesn't apply! (They never warn you< they trick you)! To make matter worse they give a the bill in huge amount and if you dont pay the slap with more money to pay, so at the end you are now in over your head $300-600 credit report. It what happen to a friend who decided just to cancel! I'm a witness as I got my elderly father myself signed up that was the excuse of both rewards they gave us. At&t will try scam you in anyway they can! They have many tricks up their sleeves. I'm seeing people I know who also have been scam and they will even try scam out the box as a "no return" to bill you $300-700 in your credit report. Listen, something has to be done, its all over the internet. Google now-> at&at scam, lies, reward, anything and you will see this an epidemic scam by at&t in us! at&t uverse battery failure causes 22 day outage!
On Monday, January 2, 2012, the battery in the UPS of my AT&T UVerse unit failed, causing my TV, internet, and home phone to go out. We called customer service, who told us that a new battery would be delivered by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4.
When no battery arrived, we called customer service again on January 5. They told us that, du to "High Demand, " they could not deliver a battery, replacement unit or otherwise get us ANY service until January 24 or after. My wife spent over an hour on the phone with AT&T UVerse customer service, speaking to a supervisor, but all they could tell us was that they were "sorry."
We have cancelled AT&T and gone back to Charter Cable, which is actually $20 per month cheaper and has twice the Internet speed. I'm looking into moving my six mobile phone numbers from AT&T, as their mobile service has been lacking as well. I hope they figure out their customer service issues quickly or AT&T will lose thousands of customers quickly!

This has been reported against att prior by me for same reason. This is second complaint against att for adding long distance charge without my request. I call and inform att I did not request the long distance since I make all l. D. Call on cellphone. They again chg for changing l. D. Service plus charge for changing local service. Each time I have talked with supervisor and get no satisfaction.
lies and incompetence
When I relocated, I called and requested AT&T DSL service. I was told in mid December that it would be installed on 12/21/11. On 12/22/11, I called again to find out why no one came out. I was told no one wrote the order down and had to begin again. The next scheduled date was 1/6/12. I said no thanks to that. After thinking it over, I called again and for some reason, 1/4/12 was available. So, I waited all day again to no avail. I finally called and was promised 1/23/12. I am sick of the lies and incompetent service and will proceed without AT&T's internet service. It appears this "giant" truly thinks we are little people and merit no consideration.
hallmark channel
I have been asking for the hallmark channel for 3 years. All the other tv provider in this area provide it and uverse did years ago. Whats the problem? Every time I call to ask for it i'm told its a money issue I will pay for it. There are plenty of women who would like it instead of all the sports channels. I like my tv service and don't want to switch but I am tired of waiting

Go phone! You must add money to your account in "package amounts", and money expires after a certain duration, and then it is non refundable! It expires before your next months bill, so if you were forced to pay more than you needed for the month through the "package amount", you won't get back the rest of the money you spent, and it will not be applied to the next bill!
u-verse
Belkin battery BU I got wih my installation is brand new and still working fine. Two weeks later I get a phone call from someone saying my power supply needs to be changed out. After doing some research on the Belkin website I found that some models with a particular serial number were being called back because of a safety issue but only certain models were affected. Well neither of the models were affected that I had but the one shipped via UPS to me after my installation date sounded broken when shook. I refused to install the Belkin BU and I am still using the original. I was unsuccsesful with the online chat with AT&T and still pursuing a explanation. Be cautious I very well be a victim of a scam. Be careful.
charging customers for unwanted service
I can't believe that at&t would be so low as to team up with idprotectionplus.com llc to steal hard earned money from their customers. Idprotectionplus will add a monthly charge of $14.95 for a service that you never signed up for. You don't realize it until months later. The charge is shown on the back page of your at&t phone bill. When I called them to inquire as to why I was being charged for something I never signed up, the customer service rep stated that I had to have gone to their website and signed up for. I would never have signed up for this kind of service. I started being charged when I signed up for a package with at&t. At&t are thieves as much as idprotectionplus are. Shame on you at&t for allowing this. I can't imagine how much this company steals from people who don't know to look on the very back of the last page of their telephone bill.

billing misrepresentation
We were advised by an AT&T representative that if we combined our home and cell phone billings we would save approximately $30 per month. The represented quoted our current combined monthly billings at approximately $170 per mo. (which was correct).
She quoted that by combining our billing would be $141.37 per month and for 6 months we would receive free Voice Mail therefor our monthly billing would be $134.57 for six month. The first months bill, was higher but we paid without question as we thought there could be some adjustments. The second months bill was for $195.00, not the $134.57. We called the company and was told time and time again $195.00 was correct. Finally the supv. said that $18 was a one time charge and tht $12 was for additoinal items I did not order and these two adjustments would bring my bill to $165 per month. Still not the amount quoted by the sales representative and confirmed repeatedly by AT&T repres.
This is not our first dealings with AT&T over higher charges than quoted and everyone should get in writing any change in their services and billing from this company.
Since May when we started our campaign, we have not seen or heard from anyone to make any changes or learn how SEO is working for our sites and services. We spend 2500 a month and we cannot get anyone from ATT Advertising to come and see us and address our advertising problems.

Long story short; i am recommending every single person to be very careful with at&t's services. What can i say more? At&t is a company that i will never ever deal in my life again. I called them, received a price offer for both internet and tv service. I was told $57.99 monthly without any promotion period or any installation fees. Bill came as $172. I called them, they dropped the bill to $69.99 for only one month. I wrote letters to ceo, cfo and vp's . Now (After all this headache) i am gonna pay $57.99 monthly and i have to switch back to comcast in 6 months as they won't honor what was promised. What really sad is that the e-mails i have from their representative and also the conversation i recorded on my mp3 player ( oh, yes i did record it, because i knew they were going to lie to keep you on board) did not help me to defend my rights. I hate at&t so badly...I wish i had a good attorney and put these people in trouble. Please please make sure you have some sort of evidence when you talk to a sales rep on the phone as they are good in lying...They want you to stay with at&t (Which is understandable) and they tell you what they can do (Which is not the case). Then you believe in what you were told until the first bill comes. Then you get in touch with some ### customer service rep who says "oh noo, i can't do that, i do not what they promised you". Then you realize that you are screwed, and you want to contact more important people in the company. Then you write letters to the top executives and you also include print outs of the emails you received. Then you also offer them more evidence as that is what was promised at the first place. Then you get a phone call saying "nothing we can do"
And...And then you give up...You decide not to fight, and then you probably any kind of fees for signing up with another company, for canceling your account, for activation, for any other nonsense fee...
Bottom line; at&t is the worst company i have dealt with. I simply hate them

We moved 2 months ago and switched from traditional service to AT&T UVerse. It was not available at our old address. A week and a half ago, our password would not work for our email address (@sbcglobal.net). We have used that email address for over 10 years, which we set up through AT&T and our original AT&T internet service. I tried to reset the password, but it would not accept our zip code, last 4 digits of SS#, nor D.O.B. We were then locked out of our email account. There is no info through Yahoo/SBC/AT&T on how to contact customer service, you must send online messages and provide an alternate email address and a phone number.
I did. As of today (10 days later) I still had no response. So I called the number listed for email and internet customer service. I was on the phone for nearly two hours, with 4 different agents. I was told my email address ends in att.net, not sbcglobal.net. What?! I think I know my own email address that I’ve logged into every day, sometimes several times a day, for over 10 years. Then I was told I needed to speak to DSL. Was transferred, and then was told it happened w/ the move, even though we moved 60 days ago and the email quit working 10 days ago. Then I was told I would need to speak to someone else and was transferred back to the main customer service automated line.
Ended up right back where I started. Was told I was lying and that my email address is att.net. I asked for the phone number for the legal department and was told there is no such thing. Then I was told I need to speak to SBC Global. I was put on hold for 10 minutes. Agent came back and said he was transferring me. Put on hold for another 10 minutes. Agent came back, said he was transferring me. Then I was hung up on. I was also notified during the many conversations with numerous agents that there is no one at any customer service number working inside the U.S.
I’m so happy we’re all throwing our hard earned American dollars at a company that outsources 100% of their customer service, when so many in our country are without jobs right now. AT&T just started a [censored] storm with me.
Here we damn well go again. I have just about had enough of getting pushed around from pillar to post with ruddy automated systems. Whatever happened to spreaking to REAL people. All I want is for someone to call me IMMEDIATELY to resolve the issue of a blocked access to my Live account. This is the second account that you have blocked and it is taking longer and longer to resolve. I have followed the procedure set out on “The Automated System†and got absolutely nowhere. It Keeps telling me to Sign in. How the Hell can I sign in if my account IS RUDDY WELL BLOCKED.
bill overcharge
wow, when I try to sign up, I was told monthly charge is $24.95 for bundling with direct-tv. My first bill is $48 (beside $149 installation and $100 modem). I called them, a nice lady promised me to change back and credit me the first month overcharge. Now I got the second monthly bill. You bet, $48 again! So I called them again. They said I am not qualified for that bundle, they can only give me $34.95. What!%$$#?
Just want to be clear that I DO have new account with direct-tv. The direct-tv was installed one week before att u-verse. Now I am still watching my HBO from direct-tv.

billing problems
I tried out the AT&T U-Verse system for a month and did not like it so I canceled it and returned the product as instructed yet for several months now I have been charged for the U-Verse TV and each time I call about it I sit for an hour waiting to talk and then I'm told that it will eventially come off my billing. Today I was just hung up on. Now my bill is up to $422.88 and they are threatening action but they won't stop billing me for what I don't have.
I had U-Verse for almost two years. While I had the service, their main focus was to get me to play technician whenever problems came up. To get someone out to fix issues, U-verse tries to charge $50+ fees and take 1+ weeks to get out to your house.
Once I moved out of the U-verse service area, I was instructed to return the equipment via UPS. UPS refuses to take everything back because UPS won't get compensated for heavy or bulky boxes like the one it takes to return their famous "Inside Unit." I am now 4 months into trying to return 1 of 4 pieces of equipment for which U-verse refuses to provide a return address.
You want to hear about the cherry on top? Now I'm dealing with a collections company, despite the fact that I over-paid my cable bill and have spent about 8+ hours on the phone trying to get them to facilitate the return of a box that weighs about 10 pounds.
The moral of the story is, do not deal with a company that's incompetent - like U-verse - and hasn't figured out their operations model.
non existent customer service
MY MAIN BOX (DVR) HAS WORKED ON AND OFF FOR THE PAST YEAR AND A HALF OF MY ATT U VERSE SERVICE. THE ONLY REASON I AM WITH ATT IS BECAUSE OF THE RECORDING SPACE. WELL EVENTUALLY THE BOX DELETED ALL MY RECORDINGS. TO TOP IT OFF ATT SCHEDULED A TECH TO REPLACE MY BOX THAT NEVER SHOWED UP. THE RETENTION DEPARTMENT OFFERED ME A $10 CREDIT FOR 6 MONTHS...BIG WOOOP... THAT COVERS FOR ALL MY RECORDINGS BEING GONE...THE $200 PER MONT THAT I PAY FOR THE NON EXISTENT SERVICE AND MY LOST TIME AT WORK, WAITING FOR THE TECH THAT NEVER SHOED UP...I FELT INSULTED BY THE OFFER. SHE EVEN TOLD ME THAT SHE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TECH NOT SHOWING UP. I AM SOOOOO ANGRY I CANT EVEN PUT IT IN WORDS...

service interruptions
I have been an ATT U-verse customer for quite some time paying $125 a month for this service. Of late everyday at approximately 7p (EST) I encounter a service interruption that last sometimes as long as 1/2 hour. If I DVR a program I cannot view it later without having difficulty with the digital picture breaking up. I don't know if this is a result of bad outside connections or something deeper but I would like to see a resolution soon. $125 a month is too much to pay for lousy service.

People saying they were reps of AT&t banged on m;y door until some one answered after they had parked blocking my driveway. They were rude and foulmouthed. We are eating dinner with guests. When I called AT&T they said there was nothing I could do because I had not gotten the people's names! That was AFTER I went to the considerable trouble to navigate their ' we don't wayt to talk to you unless you are going to buy something' website to find a number to compain to.

dstrauss I totally understand were your coming from and agree on the part they should pay for the down time people take so that at the end of the day it was a waste of your time and ill tell you this any body else one time would have been enough 3 times you have a lot of tolerance ill tell you that and even though I never experienced what you have with Uverse but I can relate in a way you see I used to be a customer represenative It was for Uverse for AT&T but through a third party AT&T hires third party company to handle their calls any how I would get diffrent types of calls billing, promos, services are not working every call was diffrent so when I would get a call from a customer who has been waiting a month and a half for services to be established I mean hes been looking forward to this day and hes at home took the day off just like you and is calling in because the tech dirent show up or told him services cannot be established they want to know why, ill be honest with you out of the calls when it was a call about this I hated it ill tell you why so their calling in I look on my computer on the notes it gives me a new install date so for example if the install date was for today it would now read like this [protected] and what this means is that their is an area issue this means two things they need perform some type of work on the outside to get services to that residence and that could take anything from a month to months and then the customer needs to set up a new install date remind you hes already waited a month and a half the second thing that it means is that their is no solution they cannot establish service at that residence aint that about a bit.. im not going to spell it all out, but you know what I mean its wrong a lot of people cut off their services with other providers wanting to come to AT&T so that they can tell them that when they waited 2-3 months but thats what happens with that just wanted to share it with you and hey if they ever do get service your way and you try for the fourth I recommend you do this when you call customer service they give you an incident number sometimes they use the same one so you can use it the next time you call if not they provide with another well if you do have any of them what their used for is for their records it lets them know of what ever issues you had so if you ever do get services let them know and as curtasy they will offer you promos even curtasy adjustments for the trouble you when through I promise you will take care.
