NJ Transit complaint against bus # 780 african american driver bus # 6073 - hackensack, nj terminal to passaic, nj

Dear NJ Transit Customer Complaint,

I would like to file a customer complaint against one of your African American bus driver is is making threatening remarks against me when I take this bus.

On Friday October the 6th, at about 5.55pm, i took the Bus # 780:- 6073 going from HACKENSACK, NJ TERMINAL TO PASSAIC, NJ and I came off the bus at Prospect and Essex Street.

This African American driver with an Accent told me to go "SUCK MY MOTHER" because I was walking slow off the bus.

This driver is very sick and may need some mental evaluation. This driver should not be driving this bus, he goes around and crust at passengers, I have two other people told me he did the same or similar words at them.

This driver MUST BE FIRED OR REMOVED AS A DRIVER. THIS DRIVE IS A LIABILITY TO NJ TRANSIT BECAUSE I AN GOING TO FILE A LAWSUIT AGAINST NJ TRANSIT IF THEY DO NOT REMOVED THIS DRIVER.

ANOTHER DAY I WAS WALKING OFF THE BUS AND HE DROVE THE BUS OFF WHILE I AM GETTING OFF THE BUS.

NJ TRANSIT, PLEASE REMOVED THIS DRIVER, HE HAS VERY SERIOUS MENTAL PROBLEM.

THANK YOU.

As someone who has been thru similar experiences and recently the worst situation with the worst NJ Transit bus driver I've ever come across, I strongly suggest that you should definitely mail a formal written complaint with ALL the details and information to NJ Transit at the address I will give below. Notice that on the NJ Transit website, when you click on "Contact Us", they only list a million phone #'s but no company address at all. This is because they want people to call so they can shove the issues to the side and take no action. Written complaints reaching the highest levels of the companies demand a course of disciplinary action and the company to write back with that they will be doing to fix the issue you are complaining about. The address I found mainly accepts complaints regarding NJ Transit's "Title VI Commitment and Compliance Objectives" (mostly issues of discrimination and drivers not respecting riders rights), but it will ensure your written complaints reach the HIGHEST level within the company and something will DEFINATELY get done about the bus driver, especially if it's not her first complaint.
They hold EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE of NJ Transit accountable. This information I found is from the NJ Transit website, and here is the link for further information and reading (I simply Googled "file a complaint against a NJ Transit bus driver" to find the site, although it's somehow branched off of the NJ Transit website):
www.njtransit.com/tm/tm_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=TitleVITo

According to the website, NJ Transits "Title VI Commitment and Compliance" objectives are to:
*Ensure that the level & quality of transportation service is provided without regard to race, color or national origin;
*Identify & address, as appropriate, disproportionately high & adverse human health & environmental effects, including social & economic effects of programs & activities on minority populations and low-income populations;
*Promote the full and fair participation of all affected populations in transportation decision making;
*Prevent the denial, reduction or delay in benefits related to programs & activities that benefit minority populations or low-income populations; AND
*Ensure meaningful access to programs and activities by persons with limited English proficiency (LEP).

If you were discriminated against, you MUST file your complaint within 180 days of the date of the incident with the bus driver. I had a very similar situation with a black female driver and I am a white, and I believe it was absolutely discrimination that caused this bus driver to curse, shout, threaten me, and more. She even purposely forced the bus door shut (they shut it manually with their hand and arm, and she used all her strength on purpose) and had me stuck in the doorway awkwardly as the bus was moving and would not stop the bus to let me free, causing me to be injured and I am pregnant. And those are just some of the details of what I went thru with my NJ Transit bus driver. Perhaps you were denied the pick up and ride due to a protected status causing you to have been discriminated against, or perhaps the bus driver violated your rights to ride public transportation? It sure sounds like it when a bus driver looks right at you, nods at you acknowledging you, and continues driving, and you mention that she is a black female so I am assuming you are not of the same race. Do you believe that she would have stopped if you were her same race or a different sex or if you were dressed differently, indicating that you were a member of a different socioeconomic group?

I believe everyone should file complaints against these types of drivers who think they have the power and authority to bully and do whatever they want to riders all around the state. There are plenty of incompetent drivers working for NJ Transit, but they will just stay employed if no one does anything about it. I spoke to a very kind young lady who has been driving for NJ Transit about 1 year now and she said that it's absolutely shocking and disgusting the way NJ Transit allows bus drivers to stay with the company despite having complaints filed against them or even being guilty of causing traffic accidents, and she explained to me that although the sticker on the back of the bus says "Yield to Bus", every single bus driver MUST turn on their left blinker and wait until they have an opportunity before attempting to merge back into traffic after making a pickup on the right side of a road or highway. She also told me that NJ Transit tolerates so much and their rule is that drivers must have 3 complaints filed against them to get terminated, or have 1 major event occur to result in immediate termination, but because folks don't make complaints, the drivers actually brag about how they get away with murder. The young lady told me that drivers who get into accidents and hit cars when its THEIR FAULT almost always still keep their jobs mostly because the riders don't make complaints and neither do the owners of the cars!?!

Good luck with your situation, and send your complaint written and by mail so that you have proof of your correspondence with NJ Transit. Keep copies of what you send them. I highly suggest you call and make complaints too to the appropriate complaint # listed on their website, but don't just call - send in your written complaint(s) as well and when you do call, document who you speak to, when, date, time, what they said, ask questions like what's going to be done, what will be the outcome, when will a supervisor or higher follow up with you, is this is the bus driver's first complaint, how many times can this bus driver continue to behave inappropriately and against company policy before they take action, what will that action be, etc. Ask any question you want to because the worst that can happen is they say "I can't answer that question!" If you have a voice recorder, record the call if you can. This way, you can go back and re-listen to what was said if you need to, or type up a transcript of the conversation if necessary. Doing all of this ensures that NJ Transit can't just try and apologize and brush you aside. Good luck!

Hello Matt and Journalists. This morning on April 16, 2018, the 190 Rutherford to New York bus came to a full stop on the red light on Main Avenue and Gregory Avenue at 6:01am and when I signaled the African-American woman bus driver she refused to pick me up! She nodded no to me and when the light turned green she left! Leaving me all wet and cold in the heavily rain and to mention my feet were wet. I got on the next bus at 6:27am! I was late to my place of employment due to her negligence. We have to let NJ Transit know they hire incompetent people!

NJ Transit bus #24 - (*6531)

Every Saturday the driver of this bus has not been making his required stops. Even when someone has requested to stop at a designated bus stop. It seems that he does this. Skipping stops in an attempt to avoid picking up particular customers. Which is extremely discriminatory of him, and reflects on NJ Transit I fortunately. He does this, skipping stops routine to the point that the costumers have become accustomed to this behavior. Unfortunately they are no standing out in the middle of the street in attempt to stop him. Which as you know is very dangerous not only for the person trying to stop him at a designated stop, but everyone else one that bus he's driving. I suggest something be done. Some kind of reprimand in his behavior. If this continues I will have no choice but to video him and expose his actions. This such disgusting behavior! Not to mention, it's definitely discrimination.

NJ Transit nj transit - fort lee bus route 154

It is very sad how the sense of humanity is gone in society nowadays. I was waiting for the NJ transit this morning october 4, 2017 at 6:23 am as usual to get to work. The driver looks like was in a rush and decided not to stop in the stop at 67th st and JFK. A pedestrian was almost hit by this driver however I am not sure if we can call it driver because of the way he was acting. I could see the anger in his face. The driver was hispanic and I have never seen him in this route before. NJ T drivers need to receive better trainning and keep in mind that they are giving a service and need to stop to pick up people that are going to work just like he is working. Drivers also need to be more careful with the pedestrian on the st. Drivers have salary and they are getting paid for its work. They need to stop acting like they are not getting paid. I always say that if you are performing a job it was your decision if this driver do not want to be a driver he should resign and leave this job to a person who really needs the job.

NJ Transit round trip bus tickets

We bought two round trip tickets and two tickets printed out. We got on the 6:15 bus at gate 234-1 to 192 Clifton Via Nutley and the bus driver was very rude in telling us that she had to confiscate the tickets and there should have been 4 tickets that printed out if we bought two round trip tickets (as I stated, there were only 2 tickets that printed out and even if there were supposed to be 4, the bus driver didn't have to berate us). As a result we are now on the bus and will have to purchase 2 additional tickets to return and we don't think there are ticket vending machines or agents at the stop.

NJ Transit unethical behaviour by one of the drivers.

On Thurs. (Sept. 28th, 2017 I was returning home from work.
I was waiting for a NJtransit Bus at the corner of 49th street and Bergenline Ave. In Union City, NJ 07087
A 156 Route Bus arrived (Bus number 7541) The driver was an Afrivcan American man in his 40's (age).
As I entered the bus to pay my fare with a daily ticket. Not knowing the ethnic background of the driver, I did ask the driver in Spanish, if the bus was going to pass through Bergenline Ave. and 79th street. Immediately, the driver started to curse in English obscenities and Profanity.
I did not understand much of what he said, but he seemed very upset.
A Lady traveling in the bus, was kind enough to inform me that, in fact the bus would pass through 79th street. She also said the driver was cursing me in English.
I am not proficient in English and specially with profanity. So, I did not know I was being insulted and embarrassed in front of people.
The driver reached out with fast action and took the ticket from my hand with a violent move. When I was aware of his language and attitude towards me, I asked him why he would do such thing and he continued to curse and yell.
I was quite embarrassed and afraid at this point. The lady passenger asked me nicely to seat next to her and ignore the runts by the driver.
Very kindly, a friend volunteered to write this complaint, since I do not know enough English to write the note for myself.
Its important I mentioned, I cannot believe such uneducated and unprofessional people work for such distinguish and big Co. like NJTransit.
I am recently started to use your service, but never encountered a driver with such rage and poor attitude.
I hope he does not represent the people that work for that Co. since up to that day, I have encountered good drivers.
I believe the driver's name is "Anthony" according to another passenger who may know him.
I don't mean to cause or be the reason someone like him "Anthony" losses his job, but I do hope the Co. helps him or retrains him on how to deal with people professionally.
I know in every workplace there are always, bad apples, but his attitude and behavior is unacceptable.
I hope the driver learns some manners and how to treat people. Since the biggest part of his job is to deal and treat people every single day.

Thank you for allowing me to reach you, I hope my letter will help make the Co. better and more conscious of passengers safety.

Sincerely,

Fatima M. cadavid

NJ Transit the bus en route from new brunswick to perth amboy, nj

I'm sending this email to the parties in charge of handling discrimination complaints. The bus I rode in today, bus no. 6167 from New Brunswick to Perth Amboy NJ is the place where the incidents took place. I boarded the bus at 12:11pm with my bike as well to head home. I sat in the middle of the bus just before the back door. The female driver, who operates this bus during the time I was on it, is racist and sexist. I also have a strong argument to support this, because she and a passenger, who was seated in the front in the priority seating were speaking the whole ride about me, and she was describing me as "the black guy I don't like". She gave me dirty looks, and profiled me, as if she saw me as a problem. I paid when I got on the bus and sat quietly. I was also the only black person on the bus nearly the whole ride while I rode the bus. She even tried to apologize for her comments, but to the elderly passenger that she spoke to, and not to me, while there were several other passengers on the bus. This is the first time I've had to complain about a bus driver's conduct while they are driving and I'm a passenger. She was endangering everyone else's life while she was throwing a tantrum at me and I did absolutely nothing to provoke an altercation. She would have gotten hit in the face with my fist, had she been speaking to me directly. To the best of my knowledge, there are two cameras on this bus as well, one in the front and one in the rear of the bus that are just to record the right of the driver and the passengers. Most of the ride was unpleasant and frustrating, this could have been avoided had she not been there to be racist and hateful. I believe she said those words, because she doesn't like black persons. She is racist. I'm going to file a complaint also with the Division on Civil Rights, and I'd like a letter of apology. Please investigate this woman. I know not who she is and she should not be able to operate a bus if she can't handle being around Blacks, Africans, etc. I'm also asking for her resignation.

NJ Transit bus service

I am waiting at the bus stop of chancellor and union in Irvington NJ trying to get work in Ny. The app saying the times for when buses are supposed to arrive has listed 3 separate times that buses should have arrived at this stop. I got to this stop at 9am and it's literally 10am now. The bus in question is 39. What makes this situation even worse is this NOT the first time I've run into this problem involving this bus line

NJ Transit rude and nasty driver

I was traveling on the 191 littlfalls bus diver id#42738 who was rude and unprofessional. He embarrassed a passenger by yelling that he didn't show his ticket in which the passenger did, the driver made him come all the way back up to the front. He proceeded to complain and talk to himself while driving, talking about most of the passengers that came on and off. When it was my turn to get off he passed my stop and told me I rang the bell at the stop and kept going while talking crap. I constantly spend my money on nj transit. This not the first time riding with him and him being very rude.

NJ Transit nj transit bus driving recklessly

NJ Transit bus # 7661 on 9/15/17 traveling east on Rt 3 approaching Secaucus between 8am-8:10am...While driving in heavy traffic, the bus kept veering across lanes without signaling. In one example, it cut across two lanes nearly hitting two cars, then less than a minute later cut back across the same two lanes to end up right back where it was, again with no signal and this time almost clipping my car. In the span of 10 minutes while I had the misfortunate of sharing the road with this vehicle, this pattern happened repeatedly for no discernible reason. The driver seemed to be acting as though they were driving a small sports car rather than a large transit bus.

I hope that this incident gets looked into as in a matter of seconds he put my enitre family life at risk and thos passengers that were on the bus.

NJ Transit transit drivers

This is the third time that I have gotten cut off by a NJ Transit bus. I don't believe that they look before they decide to pull away from a stop. This time, there was road work being done. Instead of the driver slowing down to check if he/she was able to move over, they kept their speed and cut the car in front of me off causing me to slam on my breaks and hoping the driver behind me had good enough breaks to not smash the back of my car. They don't care about the lives they are driving or others on the road.

NJ Transit bus route 133

To Whom It May Concern,

In August I became a NYC commuter. The first couple of weeks I took bus Route 133 into Port Authority and there were no problems. However, the service over the past couple of weeks has gotten FAR worse. The 7:20AM bus (Matawan, NJ) has consistently been late and today my bus out of Port Authority to Matawan NJ never showed up (5:40PM). Please advise to let me know if I should seek alternative route/ more dependable mode of transportation. This is unacceptable given that thousands of people rely on your service to get them to work on time each and every day. In addition, the NJ Transit app has been completely inaccurate in showing when the next bus is coming- IF IT EVEN COMES.

My email address is [protected]@yahoo.com. Please take the time to respond to the above inquiry as the poor service of your company is negatively impacting my daily commute.

Thanks for reviewing.

NJ Transit bus - 167/

Sunday, Sept 10th. I am at State St and Teneack Rd stop (13780) waiting for 167T to NY. Arrived at bus at 2pm for 2:12pm bus. It is 2:20pm, I called customer service who informed me that bus went "offline" after delay and is now somehow on route but missed our stop. Thos bus only runs 1x per hour on Sunday and decided to skip stops. I need more information as to why and how this happened. I relied on bus for transportation and now I find that the contract is a farce. Need more information, a sincere apology, a refund, a change in policy that ensures this type of incident does not occur again... need a reliable public transportation system with accountability.
