I usually go match and hired Steven feinstein to represent me in a legal matter upon meeting him I was explained to me that he was not going to represent me alone he was going to involve a partner who excelled in the criminal matters. I agree to this thinking that two lawyers are better than one I gave a retainer check to him in person at a meeting at which time his partner was supposed to be involved in the meeting over a conference call. Was in minutes of the conference call starting the phone had disconnected and died so there was no conference call with the partner. Steven and I continued the meeting I handed him $2,500 check he signed the partners name on the contract as she was not present and accepted my money. A short time after that my pre-trial was scheduled the lawyer she was going to assist him

The partner accompanied me to a meeting in regards to my case in that meeting it was short and sweet and it affected the outcome of my pretrial conference terribly. A day or so before the pretrial conference I received a message from a secretary named Anthony stating this that my second retainer check any amount of $1,500 was received by the partner and still in hand and it was stated that the partner lawyer was not going to represent me as I have been uncooperative in my case. After a short meeting she followed me to my house we talked some more and it was very clear to me that she was to represent me in a fashion that the proper procedures used in my case and some of the evidence was supposed to be withheld and pulled back because it was incorrectly done and that I was not cooperating in any other capacity. The first time I talked to her she said everything that was perfect I felt like she was so on my side and she was going to fight this case for me but a day before the pretrial conference I get this message and realize that she's not coming. I didn't know what to do I called judges trainers to find out how to file for a continuance to figure out my legal situation and the continuance was never responded to so on a Friday at 2:14 in the afternoon a message is sent to the people involved in my case and on Monday at 9:00 a.m. I have to be before the judge. No response was received by Monday I went before the judge and luckily I still had a court appointed lawyer who did show up. After my pretrial conference which went terribly I was deemed uncooperative and stated I did not understand the severity of my charges which was not true luckily for me. After the pretrial I requested a refund from Steven for the amount of my retainer that I had paid $4,000. I've attached a copy of the message which made it look very short and sweet and that the refund was going to be mailed to me immediately well that did not happen. I waited approximately a week for the check in hand to be returned to me and that did not happen, finally I had her electronically send me a copy of the voided check so I could get the access to the money in my bank account. At the same time I requested the $2,500 refund from Steven that was originally handed to him when we met. He responded stating that him and his partner were going to meet about it and figure out what charges should be deducted to pay for their services. I have no problem with paying for the hours worked. I continually ask the status of the check and it took almost two weeks for the check to finally be mailed I still have not received it however it was stated that the amount deducted was $1,750 so I would be receiving $750. it when I questioned it I was told that was stated that 1 to 5 hours was worked by the partnron my behal.

I am internal agreement that they should be paid for their services however I do not agree with a rate any higher than $150 per hour and I do not believe that this deduction was comparable to the services I received. I would be happy to pay them a reasonable amount but taking $1,750 from the total amount of $5,000 retainer when you only represented me for 1 to 5 hours in a case. I'm requesting to get a more of refund from this lawyer and I would like to just state that the advertisement on legal match for him does not describe him clearly. It should not be permitted that he lists himself under criminal matters if he requires a partner. There was many questions that he was unable to answer without the assistance of his partner.

If a partnership is what he's in then that should have been clearly stated. I think it's a total misrepresentation and I was deceived I want my money back. I have also attached print screens of communications that were sent and never responded to from the partner and numerous amount of times I could email and text and receive no response the only responses I ever received were from the secretary stating that I was being uncooperative and she was not happy with that. Once Steven involved her he did not respond in regards to my case either. Another fact is that the contract was signed by the partner prior to our meeting therefore I'm not exactly sure who signed it but I believe Steven signed it on behalf of his partner.

Claimed loss: 1750.00

Desired outcome: I would like the remaining amount of 1,750 return to me.
