Tata Motors review: Tata Nexon AMT Dark Edition

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to share my experience with my Tata Nexon AMT Dark Edition, which I purchased in May 2023 from Swan Motors, Sonipat. Since then, I have ensured all services were completed on schedule at authorized Tata service centers. Our usage has been consistent, with daily drives and weekend trips averaging around 200 kilometers.

From the very beginning, I sensed something unusual with the vehicle—specifically, a high jerk during slow driving, stereo functioning. I brought up this concern during every service appointment, but unfortunately, a permanent solution has yet to be found. About a year into ownership, the car stopped starting altogether; after inspection, the battery was identified as the culprit and replaced at the Ghaziabad service center.

Additionally, we encountered several incidents where the car wouldn’t start, and sometime auto resume functioning after a few minutes and some time we need to call road side assistane. These episodes were puzzling as the battery appeared fine during checks. Fast forward to two years, a new issue surfaced: the car would stop responding to the accelerator at the fifth or sixth gear then 2nd, 3rd , without any warning lights. Initial inspections revealed nothing, but after repeated incidents, the service team discovered problems with the spark plug and a pipe, which were replaced at a cost of approximately ₹5,000.

There have been moments when the car performed well and we enjoyed a smooth drive for sometime. However, after the major 30,000 km service, all the previous issues returned—stalling in the middle of the road, inability to accelerate, and eventually, a complete breakdown. Roadside assistance had to be called, and once again, the battery was identified as the issue.

My concern is that despite purchasing a new Tata vehicle, diligently maintaining it, and keeping up with insurance and services at authorized centers, we have repeatedly faced distress and embarrassment. It is disheartening to question our decision to choose Tata.
