Things You Should Know Before You Buy a Wheatgrass Juicer

Wheatgrass juicer market is a great one these days. It owes it all to the ever growing popularity wheatgrass enjoys worldwide. There are dozens of different models with flashy names and functions which could drive you to make a rash decision which you might regret a little bit later. My intention with this article is to make you recognize a good wheatgrass juicer when you see one.

Wheatgrass has many benefits as you already know. These stem from various nutrients packed in the blades of this potent plant. Amongst other things, wheatgrass is packed with enzymes which are crucial to the normal bodily functioning. Another great wheatgrass constituent is chlorophyll which has a number of health boosting properties.

Powerful as they may be, these substances are very fragile. This means wheatgrass requires a special type of juicer to be processed. You see, when you use a standard kitchen blender to make wheatgrass juice, the high speed rotation of the blades and the heat that follows due to friction, oxidizes the aforementioned substances, thus lessening the great health impact they could have on your body. Besides, blenders are often very noisy, and since wheatgrass has a high fiber content they tend to jam frequently and can have a very short life span.

A good juicer should use an auger to process wheatgrass. These are also called masticating juicers. An auger system is far more effective and efficient than a standard blade-type system because an auger doesn’t spin at high speeds. Actually, it spins at around 90 RPM which is over ten times slower than the speed of the household blender which means that there’s no heat and noise levels are substantially lower. Less friction and heat means less oxidation and a longer life span. The masticating wheatgrass juicer doesn’t get jammed, and they are very easy to clean.

There’s a wide variety of quality wheatgrass juicers out there depending on your needs. There are electric and manual juicers. For ease of use, choose an electric one and if you process a lot of wheatgrass daily. If you have a limited budget I’d suggest going for a manual one since they are inexpensive and easy to use. Make sure they are of quality material such as stainless steel. With proper care, these could last a lifetime.
