This is in reference to the Mac.bid. Also known as Mac discount. They have several stores in Western Pennsylvania. This particular store is located in Tarentum, PA at the Pittsburgh Mills location. This is a three hour round-trip for me and $65 in gas.

I get there a pick up my Pet Patio Door. I retrieve my item with a matching barcode tag but it is NOT my pet patio door. It’s a bed extender. We were directed to the returns manager.

He explained that the tag that was printed for the pet door had been exchanged with the tag printed for the bed extension. He shrugged his shoulders and said “Sorry about that. We can give you a refund.” I told him that I just traveled all this way for nothing. Time and gas money wasted!

Evidently, this tag switching has been an ongoing problem. After talking to other people, seems the same thing has happened to them.

The only way to stop this is by training employees. When the item is being checked out/scanned, that employee needs to look at the item on their screen and look at the item being scanned. This simple act could prevent thieves from stealing products

So, what I don’t understand is, why didn’t the returns manager call that customer that ordered the bed extension and insist they return the product that they checked out. Bring the product back or lose your membership privileges of buying in any store.

I they don’t nip this in the butt and train these employees to double check items going out, we all lose money! This tag switching will keep going on.

It not only hurts the customers but it’s gonna hurt the Mac.bid franchise.

Call these thieves and have them return what we purchased.

Desired outcome: It would be amazing if we could have piece of mind after time and travel expense that when we get there our purchases will be there. Employees need trained to match up purchases

We are not newbies to mac bid. We've been members for over a year. Sometimes we make 8 hour runs to pick up at all the stores from Washington, butler, Pittsburgh Mills, Monroeville, etc. We are very grateful for this Pittsburgh founded company. We have been able to totally renovate our home with quality high end products from Broan bathroom fans, Toto toilets, bio bidets. appliances etc. not to mention the fact that we do very well flipping merchandise. In this case, it would have been nice to offer some mac bid bucks or something. Yes, they should have taken a moment and scanned the cameras and that was exactly why we were so disturbed.. As far as the item not being in the condition I expected... the item was not there. (Missing in action ) That was the issue. I can deal with other issues like open box, damaged etc. But as far as macbid getting all these bad reviews, it's really not fair to macbid. It is usually the public not understanding terms and conditions. "Open box. Partial, Damaged, missing parts" If you are bidding on a high-end item, you should go and inspect it first and know exactly what your bidding on. People need to understand the risks involved with any company that does liquidations. We love macbid however, better training polices must be implemented to stop the tag switching thieves not only to protect the public, but to allow this great company to expand and flourish. Thanks M@cbid
