This feels like they put a paperwork requirement ahead of common sense — and charged a senior patient with 19 years of loyalty for the privilege. You already stopped the aspirin five days before the visit. The procedure doctor said they’d handle it. Aylo made you come in, pay a copay, just to document something a simple phone call or secure message could have confirmed. BCBS agreeing it was unnecessary says everything. I’m sorry they did that to you. You deserved better after nearly two decades with them. Please consider filing a complaint with Medicare/Medicaid if applicable or your state insurance commissioner. That was not right.
