Costco employee was being disrespectful to me and my family on august 5, 2017

We encountered an incident with the checkout clerk by the name of Reginald at Costco Warehouse on South Dakota Avenue Northeast Washington, D.C. And he said he was checking personal bags at random, he exchanged words with us and was very disrespectful and told us we didn't have to shop at Costco anymore and he told us we can go to another Costco, and we told him can't tell us where to shop at so I reported to the manager on duty and she said she will handle it and write up an incident report on Reginald and he was still being disrespectful to us after we told the manager on duty and he also stated that he doesn't care if we report him or get wrote up on.

Costco excessive membership fee & suggestion

I love shopping at Costco for many reasons. However, I believe you are reaching a point (and may have already reached it) where you are pricing yourselves out of the market with your excessive ($60) membership fee. My guess is that $50 was your break point. I believe you have many customers (many Seniors just like me) who don't shop at Costco often (for a multitude of reasons - distance from store - don't need that much bulk - etc. ) but maintained their Costco membership just because they enjoyed it so much. For me, it was a tough call at $50/year - not as tough a call at $60/year. Where will it all end? Suggestion: I believe you need to consider a Seniors and Military Veterans / First Responder's Discount. I'm guessing you will begin to lose members with your excessive $60 fee. The discount may help to get many beck.

Costco gas pump malfunction introduced debris into my fuel tank

I purchased 91 Octane fuel at Costco Fuel Station at 2640 Lomita Blvd., Torrance, CA 90505 on June 15, 2017. My 3-month-old car engine would not stay on after fueling and I never had any issue prior to getting fuel at the aforementioned Costco Gas Station, Pump 14. There was however a very unusual and noteworthy situation occurred while I was pumping gas. That is, it took 4 to 5 times longer than usual to pump gas at the #14 pump (About 8 or 9 mins). I was even thinking of abandoning that pump and restarting with another pump but hung in there until I filled up the tank. My tank was half full already at the time and the fuel capacity in my car is about 13.5 US Gal and filling the remaining half tank should not have taken more than 2 to 3 mins at most. I suspect the pump #14 had a temporary glitch, perhaps the filter inside was clogged until it got dislodged and in the process sent some debris into my tank causing the engine malfunction.

After determining that my engine would not stay on and experiencing severe engine miss-firings, I decided to have it towed. I had to tow my car to the dealer where I bought it from (dealer is a less than a mile away). Mercedes dealer’s mechanic diagnosed the problem to be strictly with defective or contaminated fuel and performed a service by removing the fuel tank from the car, emptying all the fuel, then replaced $10 worth of fuel needed to test the engine. They test-started the engine and found no more problems once they completed the test procedures. They also test drove the car and found the engine to be performing normally. Fortunately, there seems to be no tangible damage to the engine components thus far. Initially the mechanic expected to have the rest of the fuel system flushed and cleaned, the fuel injectors also removed and cleaned as well as the throttle body. However, they were happy that cleaning the fuel tank and replacing with new 91 Octane premium fuel took care of the problem and no repairs to anything else including the engine was not necessary.

I picked up the car on June 22, 2017 and found my car to perform perfectly normally. The dealer’s mechanic also saved a sample of the contaminated fuel taken out of the tank for my inspection which I am in possession of. Several mechanics had informed the service representative/supervisor that the fuel smelled and looked unusual. The cost of the performed services was $975 and the replacement cost of the fuel to top-off is $20.39 totaling $995.39. Fortunately, my Mercedes membership covered the cost of towing and the replacement car for the time it took the dealer to service my car.

I also spoke to Costco management on the day of the problem and they had me fill-out a complaint form. The gas station attended also saved me a sample of the fuel and later another attendant decided to dispose of it due to possible hazard storing it. The management was unable to initiate any type of claim or restitution to my problem that day and started the process Monday, June 19th when I returned to speak with the manager.

Tuesday, the 20th, an insurance representative (Alex Dickherber) contacted me and disclosed his plans to investigate and gave me a claim number (Costco liability insurance is Gallagher Bassett. Furthermore, the claims representative, Alex also called few days later and left me a message stating that the claim is denied since he was unable to find any wrong-doing and/or malfunctioning of the pump, fuel or otherwise. I find this to be a determination made based on the information that cannot be found and confirmed no matter how much you look.

The problem was transient and only effected my vehicle at that time and the unusual functioning of the pump #14 which I witnessed can explain some level of possibility of a malfunctioning of that pump. The pump kept being very unstable and I was forced to hold the nozzle pushed into the car for the duration of the time it took to fill the half tank. I could feel repeated rebounding or unusual vibrations felt thru the nozzle and the hose. I was also experiencing and feeling awkward that it took so long to pump and I could see the other customers impatiently staring at me as if it was my fault. I understand that the vehicles prior to me and after me had no report of issues thus far at the time the claims adjuster was investigating.

Costco insurance denied my claim and I'm stuck with paying $975 and about $40 for the cost of a tank of gas. I lost a day initially, getting towed and the hazel of dealing with a broken car, spending time going to the dealer and waiting around. Spend more time returning to the auto dealer several more times.

I also tried several times to contact Costco management at the store and corporate online complaint line, but they refer me back to Costco Insurance and passed on their responsibility very irresponsibly.

Costco returns / customer service

Returned a tent at Costco Issaquah that I purchased at the Seattle location on 6/30. Also noticed on my receipt that I was charged twice for KS paper towels. Went to the counter, spoke to Paul. He was extremely rude to begin with, especially when I told him I was double charged for paper towels. Looked at my receipt and said I purchased these items 3 months ago (mentioned it a couple times, to shame me?) while counting on his hand June, July, August... it's 8/17 today and my receipt was from 6/30. Told me it was too long ago. I asked so you can't refund me for the duplicate charge? Said in a rude tone that he would need to discuss with the manager. Asked why I was returning the tent in a rude tone, told me he needed it on the counter. I had my two children with me and this is a large and heavy 10 person tent. Thanks for the help, Paul! Tent had never been opened, in perfect condition just too large for our family. Manager came over, Paul scoffed and mentioned again that it was 3 months ago with the transaction from Seattle. Manager said no problem. Paul was then rude and said it needed to be done in two transactions. I'm so sorry to put you out at 10:30am on a Thursday, Paul. Does my return go against your metrics? Was I just so stupid to not drag my kids back out immediately and fix my duplicate charge and tent at the Seattle location? Thanks Paul for the lack professionalism you provided today. It was really appreciated, especially in front of my 2 & 4 year olds. I've only met wonderful people from Costco so this was a first for me. Absolutely rude.

Costco never again

All I know for sure is that the Costco employees at Puyallup, WA are incredibly unprofessional and impolite. I tried to understand why they are like this. I witnessed several situations where they showed their real attitude for customers. I can' find any excuse. Just like a normal customer, I would like to be appreciated, so that's why I stopped shopping there.

Costco tire rotation & balancing

I purchased tires from Costco and based on the service agreement, the tires qualified for FREE rotation/balancing. I made an appointment and took my vehicle (Mercedes R350) in for service on 7/29. Appointment was purposely made for a Saturday to not to impact the work week. A day after servicing and while on the interstate, I and my passenger noticed that the vehicle had a great deal of vibration in the seats and in the front of the vehicle. CLEAR indication the front nor rear tires were balanced properly. I revisited the COSTCO center and scheduled another appt for re-balancing (8/3) with the same results, plus the rim cover was broken and lying by the side of the car.
I re-visited the center on 8/5 and was told that apparently my vehicle had a mechanical problem and it began evident with the balancing. Two of the reps advise me their machine balances at 35mph (hence the problem). I told them that was CRAZY. Who drives 35mph.

I immediately went to FireStone located next door and described the problem. I asked about their machine and was advised it balances at 80mph (make sense). Before working on the vehicle the rep brought me a broken rim cover and advised the prones on the cover was broken and one cover was missing. I was aware of the 1, but not aware that now two was damaged. Needless to say, FireStone successfully balanced the times at a cost of $55.54. Totally HAPPY customer.

Today (8/16), I go by the Mercedes dealership to purchase the rime covers ($33.00 per cover). I am furious and all COSTCO can say is that "I'm sorry ma'am, I don't know what happened". I will NEVER use their service again nor refer to anyone else. The customer service rep was terribly rude and apparently not familiar with vehicles.

I'm still fighting a battle with the store to get reimbursed

Costco food court.

When i went up to ask if they still carried their berry smoothie, the woman said yes and proceeded to make my smoothie. I noticed that she had added something else that wasn't normally added to their smoothies. When she handed it to me i asked if they had changed their recipe, she replied yes. Well I'm personally very disappointed, not only did they not tell me beforehand that they had changed, i also looked for the poster afterwards and the poster still showcased the old ( BETTER ) smoothie and their price has gone up. This new smoothie tastes absolutely disgusting. The strawberries seem old and watered down, the chunks are rather odd feeling and it's just all around disappointing. Please bring back the old smoothie or at least make it mandatory to change the poster. It's honestly the worst smoothie I've ever had, an unsuspecting family member blindly tasted it and agrees that it tastes terrible.
Thanks.

Subject: Kirkland alkaline batteries. AA 72 pack
Message: My husband and I are members with Costco and have been for a while. We have always purchased these batteries along with many more. The last box we have purchased, have leaked out and don't last long at all. We have to check and change batteries constantly and worried about the batteries ruining our stuff. We thought your customer service should know about this problem. We would still like to purchase these batteries, but are scared too. Please let me know what the outcome will be. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time.

Costco rude staff

Wish I could give them the most negative rating for all the mental harassment they caused.
The cashier couldn't stop giving advice what I should buy and what I shouldn't as if he knew what was better for my business.
I'm so sad with that. I will never go shopping there. They are so disrespectful and after dealing with them you go home feeling like garbage. That's how they treat us.

Costco improper tire service and unprofessional customer service

This incident occurred on 8/13/17. As I was making my way from Long Beach to Vegas (I go to school in Vegas), I noticed my tire pressure light turned on. I stopped over to check my tires, and sure enough the back passenger tire was low on air at (20 psi). So looked up on my phone and found that there was a Costco nearby in Victorville. When I came in, they checked my tire pressures again and noticed a hole in the back passenger tire and said it would be done in 30-40 minutes and charged me $10.99 for the service. The sales person who processed the paperwork was Juan L. and there was another blonde younger white male who actually did the service. About 40 minutes later the blonde man calls me in to pick up my car and tells me that the pressure light should turn off after 25 miles and sends me off. After driving for 25 miles the light did not turn off. I decide to check my tire pressure at a gas station and find that the pressure was again at 20 psi! (This upsets me that the problem was not resolved especially since I specifically told them that I was making my way all the way to Vegas and still had to drive for another 187 miles there!) So on my way to Vegas I stop by three gas stations to check my tire pressure and refill my tires with air.

The next morning, I go to a local tire shop and sure enough they say that the back passenger tire is still defected. I go to class and come back later in the afternoon. The man tells me that there is no sensor in the tire and that someone had taken out the valve and tire sensor! The tire air had been leaking from the missing valve this entire time!

I call the Costco at Victorville, CA and a man named Kenny states that he will call me back once he talks to the people who serviced my car. He also tells me that I need to drive all the way back to Victorville in order to have the tire fixed. (I specifically told him I was in Vegas and he expects me to travel for 2 hours just to go there? Ridiculous!) I ask him if he can transfer the service over to another Costco and he states that he will try to get it done in Summerland (Las Vegas) since he used to work there and may still know people who work there. (more on this later..)

I call the Costco at Henderson, NV and they state that they are unable to help because the problem was at another location and they need to do inventory on their parts.

I tell my local tire shop what Costco has said and is frustrated with how unprofessional Costco is at their customer service in going around in circles and tells me he will do the service for me for free.

Later on, the Costco at Victorville, CA calls me again and says, "I talked to the guys who fixed your car and they said that there is no physical sensor in your car and that the car can just sense the air inside the tires." I said back to him, "Well I just had a sensor placed in my car." He then goes around in circles AGAIN asks me where I got my tire pressure checked. I state that after I left Costco I was checking the tire pressure at gas stations on my way. Then he has the nerve to say that my checking the tire pressure probably messed with the car's ability to sense the pressure! And he has the nerve to tell me to come back to the store so he can "make things better and good again" after he BLAMED me for the tire pressure being low and lied to me saying that my car "doesn't have a sensor in it"! WOW.

I still have yet to make sure that the pressure light turns off. But for now I am very upset with the service I got from Costco! I feel like they put me in danger because I was traveling far on my own and did not feel safe with my tire pressure light the entire time (from Victorville to Vegas)! They should have fixed the problem to begin with... And even if they made the mistake, they should have owned up to it instead of putting the blame on me.

There is not much that Costco can do for my car now since my local shop was kind enough to fix your mistake but I would like a refund on the improper job that the Victorville Costco did for my tire. (Costco membership number is [removed])

Costco customer service

Very disappointed with Costco and its manager! I went to the Duncanville, TX store today (08/14/2017) around 6:30 PM to buy groceries. I went for a product in the beverage section, checked the price, and put two of it on my cart. Finished my shopping and headed to the cashier. In the cashiers, the price of said product was wrong. I noticed and complained to the cashiers which asked her assistant to go check the price. She checked the price and saw that the only sign there was for another product with the wrong price. She called the manager, Mr. Sergio which has been a member of Costco for LONG time. Mr. Sergio refused to honor the price of the wrong sign saying that its Costco policy that the product and the sign description need to match. I asked to see the written policy which he refused to show me. After a long a frustrating argument, I had to leave without the products. It was very disappointing and frustrating the way the manager treat my wife and I.Terrible experience! Terrible Management! By the way, I have recorded to whole discussion, which I will be sending to Costco corp. very soon.

Costco very concerning issue / safety issue

On recent visit to Costco Business Center in San Diego, I noticed something concerning. There was all men inside the business center working check out while one young female was outside gathering carts and loading large amounts of item on customers car up by herself. It was upwards to 89 degree weather that day; sweating through her clothes, clearly exhausted. I was told she was normally left to attend that carts by her self. I'll say it again While the men worked inside and at the cash register. Is this the representation of Costco?

I am not understanding the complaint? It is ok for a man to do it but not a woman? A man is ok sweating through his clothes and tired but not a woman? That doesn't seem to equal to me... i could be wrong...

Costco computers

We recently were in the Christiana store and were attempting to purchase a laptop. We requested assistance and waited for over 25 minutes for assistance after having a staff member paged. This laptop is advertised on line as on special. The fact that no associate ever showed up to assist us, and that unlike many other big box stores we can't check on line to verify availability nor could we reach customer service on the phone. We have been loyal members for years, this is no way to do business.

Costco pharmacy

I worked in a pharmacy for many years so I know what great customer service should be like and Costco Pharmacy is a far from quality which is what you should expect from a membership driven company. Every time I got there, I have to tell them how to do their job. My Doctor will send over a prescription electronically right in front of me or I would call in a refill and the Doctor would call it in and the Pharmacy would claim they never received anything or an approval. I would call back again and again and the third time they had it because that was the only time they put me on hold to look. The most recent is when I had an approval for a medication to be refilled and told them I would pick up next day and when I called the next day to see if it was ready I was told they were out of stock and my question was why wasn't I told this yesterday or did they not fill it yesterday for me to pick up today and the clerk put me on hold. She came back on and said they had it from a different manufacturer so I said yes, please fill. This has not only happened with my medications but with my cat's as well. If the prices weren't so good (my insurance doesn't cover everything) then I would go back to Target.

Costco service

Tucson, AZ: On Saturday 8/12/2017 5:08 pm I was walking into costco and had my firearm on my hip. The greeter was defensive and rude when speaking to me about my firearm not being allowed. I asked where the sign was stating this since you see other signs about wearing shoes, no soliciting, etc. The greeter stated "this is private property."I would continue my business if this was clearly stated and if the greeter directed me to speak with a higher position instead of shaming me in front of other members..
