hearing aid department
Following Sent to Robert Armstrong, Costco New Orleans
Dear Mr. Armstrong,
I am a loyal Costco member and think Costco is great. I shop with you at least two times a week at Nola Costco. Having moved to New Orleans from California, although there are differences, Costco offers an excellent package and generally has exceptionally good employees.
I wear hearing aids, had shopped for new ones in Marin Costco, and realizing I was soon moving, I checked out your hearing aid department in Nola. I run an art gallery and like you, manage employees.
My repeated experiences with your hearing aid dept. staff are abysmal. Now shopping for new hearing aids, once again I had the Costco Nola Hearing Aid Dept. Experience. I'll be straightforward.
You have two employees who work there. One, apparently not the practitioner, has the job to Do NOTHING. She scowls when is interrupted from her conversation with the other employee and does all possible to make customers uncomfortable and go away. If one insists, she might do something, then goes back to scowling. She should be reassigned to the backroom shipping department where she does NOT deal with customers.
The other, seemingly the practitioner, when interrupting their conversation to ask some questions comparing hearing aids, is brighter, but less than friendly. Since I am comparing your products with other companies, getting info was like pulling teeth. She will only answer specific questions and offer NO advice, suggestions or any friendliness whatsoever. In fact, when directed to your hearing aid info rack (you sell six brands) I asked her which does she prefer. Her answer was she REFUSED to answer that because she wasn't allowed to, and I'd have to try them out. In past visits to that dept. the responses were always similar. I could go in to buy one item at Costco, hearing aid batteries, they would point them out and not bother to tell me that if I only was buying one item I could pay for there. So the first time I stood on the checkout line with my one item because IT WAS TOO MUCH WORK FOR YOUR HEARING AID STAFF TO RING IT UP.
Look, I went to Marin County California Costco hearing aid dept. They acted like the LIKED me. They were helpful and friendly. Marin Employees, like most of your NOLA Costco employees, are helpful. Would I trust these people with my hearing aids? Because of this staff, I must purchase my new hearing aids from an alternate vendor, or fly to a Costco in California which is ridiculous. If your hearing aid dept is not selling, the primary reason is your hearing aid staff doesn't want any customers.
fruits which normally spoil within 1 week aren't refrigerated
The store stopped refrigerating blueberries and strawberries, fruits which normally turn within 1 week. Instead, they keep them in the middle of the store, unrefrigerated, which will make them spoil quicker. I was there 2 weeks ago and many of the units of strawberries were spoiling already. Many units of blueberries were getting moldy. Please go back to refrigerating these fruits.
directv / at&t
I moved into a house and got a package deal getting Direct TV and Internet. I was told that I would get a deal paying $96.00 for cable and internet. While the cable installation was a complete disaster, it was fixed. My current issue comes with internet. I was promised to have up to 50mps. I only get 5mbps and each company is blaming each other. I visit the people who sold me the package at Costco and they keep saying they are going to send it to their supervisor. Nothing has been fixed and it has been months since I got my package. I am stuck with a 2 year contact and I cannot get out of anything. It saddens me because I love Costco. However, I need to inform you that Direct Tv and At&T should not be in your store due to their customer service and lack of ownership for problems.
kirkland thick sliced center cut bacon
I recently purchased two double packs of this bacon from Costco which I love and buy weekly. For some reason the packaging was different, there were no ziplocks to reseal the pack after taking some out. That was unusual and annoying but didn't bother me much. Then I tried to remove some of the bacon slices from the pack to cook it, and it basically disintegrated into many pieces and was impossible to cook or eat. I'm submitting this complaint to ask if it was just a bad batch or if you guys are trying to save money by using different packaging and supplier. Many people loved the way it was, so hopefully no change has occurred and it was just random. But if this continues I garauntee you will see sales drop for this product. Any information you can provide for this would be appreciated. Thank you

rudeness, needs a class in customer service at hearing aid dept
RE: Hearing aid appointment request
I stepped up to the counter where all service folks were with customers.
Waited patiently, no hurry. A woman stepped behind the counter and just
stood there. Now she's staring at me but not one comment. I'm a little uncomfortable, had no idea
who she was. Finally she approached me and said "Have you been helped?"
Julia quickly set up an appointment and handed me the card. Not one smile,
no comments. I thanked her and left. No thank you. I felt she was far too rude to be employed at Costco who has an excellent customer service base.
Spent some time pondering my cancelling of the appointment as I felt she was
in the wrong job. I have a history of banking customer services. I can tell who's been trained and who's not. Next day I made another app with a different employee. I feel Julia Bytnar was not supporting Costco and let you all down. Thanks for listening. I'll be back!
pharma policy
We've been dealing with the Charlottesville VA costco pharmacy for years. This year we changed drug plan carriers. When we tried to fill our usual prescription, we were told (A) this plan doesn't cover that drug but Medicare Part B does, and (B) costco pharmacy doesn't bill Medicare so the price is the through-the-roof cash price. When we went elsewhere, we learned that costco is the ONLY pharmacy in town that won't bill Medicare for Part B coverage. Wonder if it's just our costco, or all of them. Pretty quirky bunch, costco management.
cute cumbers (snack size cucumbers)
I purchased these snack size cucumbers on feb 24th from avon costco, ma. When I opened the pack at home, most of them were stale like they are very old and had developed a smell like very old cucumbers do. The tips were dark in color and they had started to go bad. I checked the date and they were packed on 9th feb. Not sure why such a old packaged product was even selling at the warehouse. This is cheating the customers. The trust that we will get a good product from costco is not there anymore seems like
employee
Worst experience ever had a bad run in with an employee under the name of Brandon Wilmore. He was very rude and disrespectful to me as a woman and i will make sure that this gets to the people over him so the proper
consequence can be given. I was at the Richmond location by the galleria when this situation occurred and something needs to be done before me and my family can return to the store.
dell computer
I never believed there'd be the day I'd be so unhappy with Costco. It used to be my go to place for everything. People joked my house was, "by Costco". I'd tell everyone about the outstanding quality and service offered and that membership was a no brainer.
Over the years, my loud praises have dwindled and caveats began to be thrown in. I've had a few experiences with Costco that have caused me a high level of cost and inconvenience. And worse, there stellar image of making everything right was tarnished right and left.
One of the huge and costly in many ways purchases was my previous laptop computer. I travel a lot so didn't realized the wireless adapter (or such) wasn't working properly until it was out of the 3 month warranty where I could return the computer for another. I thought it just had to do with the situations of my travel. I spent untold hours and months with Costco concierge to try everything they could to make it work. It never worked completely properly. Costco knew it was defective. The people I dealt with did everything that they were allowed to. Knowing the computer was faulty, my circumstances and all I'd been through, one would think Costco would do the right thing and replace the computer. But no, I had to live my life of extensive travel with "bunny ears" - an external receiver for wi-fi telling everyone who asked my story for years.
You'd think I'd have learned my lesson when it was time to get another computer. I guess I try to think the best of people and companies. I figured my past experience was a fluke and it couldn't possibly happen again. In good faith, I bought another laptop from Costco. As usual, I was travelling a lot. The computer was doing some funky things but I didn't have time or an internet connection for hours that I could be on the phone with Costco Concierge. Finally, when I did have time, I spend hours and hours with a rep having me do things totally irrelevant to what was wrong because it was part of their required procedure. She was supposed to call me back the next day but instead I got a call weeks later. I could write a book about this experience but want to keep it shorter here. I do have it all documented though.
Trying to make a long story shorter, I had my computer experts try to help me as I needed to get on the road asap. My life is pretty much on my computer. I don't use a smartphone and I operate everything I do through my computer. They did their best (and they are acclaimed IT experts in the Los Angeles area), but finally broke the news to me it would need to get sent to Dell. Dell has had it for weeks. I'd think they would be embarrassed about it!
So, the keyboard was malfunctioning, as well as the touchpad, the monitor and SD card port. Costco knows this is a lemon and still won't exchange it. I know we could get Costco Concierge more involved but they would just make calls trying to speed up the process. They wouldn't say, "I know this has been totally unreasonable and we are giving you a new computer." Even if they did that, it would not repair what I've been through!
I have been a month without my computer. This has added to untold expenses, changes of plans, problems with travel, excessive hours using alternate means of communication and business problems. I really wish Costco would go back to the days they really cared about their customers and bent over backwards to appreciate and take care of them!
photo book now has to be ordered in 2 packs?
I have been ordering my photo books for the last 10 years. Two weeks ago, I have placed my order and I now see that the 8x11 photo book now comes in 2 packs. I called customer service and was assured I would not be charged 2 packs unless I put a quantity on the copy. Today, February 19, I picked up my order and was frustrated that I have a copy of everything I ordered which I do not want. Whoever thought of this: to sell 2 photo books of the same thing is absurd. Before I left the local Costco store, I was told by the photo lab associate that I could return what I don't want and be refunded of the amount. Before I made the decision to return the unwanted photo books, I called the customer service and asked for a resolution, and was told to go to the local store return the unwanted photo books. So I go back to the local Costco store and requested a refunded of the unwanted copies and was told that is now how it comes - 2 packs. So I get a run-around and no resolution. I asked how I could order photo books of 8x11 size without a copy and was told that only way is to order the 12x12 size. I would like a refund of the photo book copies I don't want.
fresh wild pacific cod - worm found!!
On February 17, 2018 I bought the Fresh wild pacific COD at Costco (Location: 900 South Harbor Blvd., Fullerton, CA 92832) for dinner on around 5:xx pm.
As soon as came back home, I was trying to cut and surprisingly found a worm on the fish. Immediately I took the video and the original package is now kept in my freezer.
I thought Costco Food Safety was very reliable and now I'm very unhappy with your food safety control, and I'm scared to buy fish any longer. I want to know what this worm is, any poison, lay eggs, etc... this worm dies when cooking? then what temperature? I'm not sure if salmon will be safe to eat. Salmon is my favorite and I buy it at Costco frequently and I had enjoyed it a lot so far, but if those worms were in salmon and now I feel like I am vomiting.
I don't know how FDA or heath department regulates regarding worm in fish like this incident. My two sons and I are very unhappy with this incident and shocked. Just refund $15.50 may be not enough for us at this time.
If you do a simple Google search you will get your answer. It's common in fishes to have parasites, it means it's fresh and it's from the wild. They are harmless and just cook it well done. They cannot survive in heat. All fresh fish from the wild have a chance for this
unethical behavior

In Costco, I have generally seen people tasting Grapes from grape box. There is no sign that says I cannot taste. I have been Costco member for 20 years and I have never ever had someone tell me this is wrong.
Today when I was checking out, I was give additional two grape boxes. The employee told me that I have to buy it since I tasted it. She was very rude and said that in future my membership will be cancelled If I ever found tasting grapes. I was forced by the grapes box which was very sour and was also threatened of cancellation of membership.
Go wash it down with some bleach since there's no signs for that also. You are the prime example of why we need another plague in the world
With respect, I bet there there aren't signs that day not to sample the bananas, but you're still not allowed to do it. This is actually considered shoplifting.
application credit card/gift card for applying
To whom it may concern,
My name is Ruby Salas and my Costco member number is [protected]
The day I applied for a regular Costco membership card the lady that was helping me insisted I apply for a credit card and I would receive a $60 gift card. I asked her if I would get the gift card right then and there to which she replied "Yes! As long as you apply and you can also upgrade to a black card which you can get back 2% with a purchase and get it st the get of the year and so on.."
I did let her know I wasn't interested because my credit was low and I didn't think I get approved BUT if I get the $60 gift card and I do upgrade then it's like paying nothing out of pocket, so why not!? I ended up applying and come to find out once all said and done she tells me I should be receiving my gift card in the mail in 5 weeks even though I didn't get approved. I was so mad because she already up graded my card to the black card and had me pay and kept telling me that I would get my $60 but I didn't at the end. The manager came to speak with me and also assured me I was getting it in the mail. Fastfoward to 5 weeks and I call the store to let them know and they tell me wait another another 4 weeks. Well, I still haven't received it and when I went to the store to speak with a manager they told me to submitted a claim. He also told me I wouldn't get the gift card because I wasn't approved. I would of never ran my credit through if i knew it was based on approval for the gift card, just figured I'd get something in return with it. Usually some stores offer something even without approved credit.

lg dishwasher
In July 2017 I purchased an LG dishwasher and went out of town so was unable to use it in the 90 day warranty period. When I used it I found out it didn't drain and contacted the Costco team who contacted LG. two times LG sent out people to inspect and repair the unit but nothing mechanical was found to require repairing. But it is a Smart LG dishwasher and I think something is wrong with his programming . in any case it doesn't drain in my home so I am stuck with $1, 000 dishwasher that doesn't work properly. I'm hoping someone can help me as having an expensive dishwasher that doesn't work is very depressing and was a huge waste of money.
The model number is LD77797ST serial #7096KWWZ6U121. I have contacted Costco 6 times (case #9090931) and LG 7 times (6 times via Costco representative - 1 time on my own). Two time technician was sent out who said nothing was wrong with machine but it still does not drain when I use certain settings. I am so unhappy with this purchase and the fact nothing has been resolved and I am stuck with an expensive lemon dishwasher.
Hi Lori. Appreciated reading your concerns. Would appreciate a little more information.
Exactly what model is it? Can you be a little more descriptive as to the dishwasher not draining?
Look forward tho hearing from you.
pharmacy
My name is margaret ann marley. My father, mark f marley is a member of the new orleans costco location at 3900 dublin st. He fills my prescriptions there. Three of my medications can be filled at once, and the fourth at a different time of the month. The last two times my father attempted to fill prescriptions, the pharmacy had run out. The first time, it was my clonazepam (generic for klonopin) 1 mg tablets.in that case, the pharmacist lied to my father, saying I needed doctor's approval. When my doctor's office called me after much stress and my father accusing me of misusing the medication, they informed me that costco admitted to them they had run out but had my pills the next day. Now the issue are my 10 mg amphetamine/ dextroamphetamine (generic for aderol) tablets which won't be in stock until tomorrow. This alleged "wholesaler" can't wholesale their [censor] from a hole in the ground. All of this should be able to be proven in the pharmacy computer. The latter should have been filled monday. Please compensate my father, mark f marley with a gift card for this gross mismanagement of my medications. Thanks,
Margaret ann marley
cashier supervisor
I had a very humiliating experience at costco in van nay's. I was at cash register buying lunch for my office and I had no idea that my costco membership had expired about 10 days ago. They wanted $180 to renew membership before they allow me to purchase. Since I had no idea and was not prepared to pay since did not have company check with me, I asked the cashier if she can ask for supervisor to do a one time curtsy so I can buy lunch and I would take care of the membership next day or so. The supervisor mrs kapnce came to with a very demeaning attitude and said no way and confiscated my costco card as if I was a criminal and handed her a stolen card! I have been a costco member since 1994 and a business owner with the black card. And this was worst experience I ever had at costco in front of everyone that was watching this take place.
Sounds like you have done this before, also they send the renewal notice 2 months in advance. Let me guess, it never showed up at the address that's on your account
It is your responsibility to keep track of when your membership expires and renew it in time so it doesn't lapse. Of course you have to be a member to purchase from Costco, that Is the whole point.! And really, I think you asked the manager to do a courtesy, not a curtsy. Although with your attitude and sense of entitlement, you may have actually asked her to curtsy.
accused of stealing my own jacket because size label was attached from item I bought at costco royal palm beach, florida
Today February 11th, 2018 was the most humiliating day for me at Costco Royal Palm Beach Store in Florida. At approximately 12N, I visited your store to return 2 pants for better sizes and also to do my weekly shopping. I have been an executive member for years and enjoyed my shopping experiences in the past. As I was exiting the store there were 2 people checking receipts, Joseph (the person to the left) and Noeila (on the right). I was on the left lane where Joseph was and realized that it had a delayed so I switched to the right one. During my walk to the right, I noticed Joseph signalling and saying something to Noeila and I knew it was about me but I couldn't hear what was said but their gestures gave them away. I gave Noeila my receipt and she checked my cart marked a line on it and asked me what about my jacket. I had on a red dress and a red jacket. I said, "what about it." She said there is a size label on it. I told her that the red jacket was mine clothes that I walked in with and she was very rude to me and I felt humiliated of the thought that I took something from the store and was wearing it out. I was I asked why would she accuse me of that and her response was, 'I am just doing my job". No, I did not even get an apology from either of them. Then Joseph jumped in to tell me to leave and I said not until I speak with a manager and someone at the return desk that had helped me before called Ted. Ted turned out to be the same manager that had told me I looked great in red just earlier. I explained what happened but didn't feel he was going to address what happened so I decided to contact the Costco Main office. After I left the store, I stopped for gas and decided that I would never go back to that store which is in my community again. I returned to get their names and they were still rude and disrespectful. I said nothing but looked on their badge to jot their names down and Joseph yelled out his entire name as Michael Joseph or Joseph Michael. His name tag did say Joseph in Produce. Then I went to Noeila and she turned her badge clearly for me to see it and they were both having no fear what could happen to them which tells me that is how they are used to treating people at the store. She was so proud to show her name she faced me showing her badge so I could see her name. Her badge said Membership department. These two people should never be on the front line of the store. They lack respect, are rude and were set out to humiliate me without the decency of an apology after they realize they were wrong. I have no reason to steal and never will. The size glue tag must have fallen off and attached to my jacket when I held up the pants to see how the length was against my body. Furthermore if they knew the store products they would see that those size glued down tags are on slacks. They had no idea of my personal clothes that I walked in vs. Costco's so they shouldn't make this judgement call. Now I am very embarrassed that I was called in wrongfully and everyone on the Sunday lines saw me being accused of stealing and with no apologies except from Ted the manager. Ted was simply just trying to get me out of the store and in my heart I felt he wouldn't say anything to them. He too said they were doing their job so it must be the culture in this store to accuse people. Does Costco train people to be law enforcement officers and accuse even when there is no evidence?. I will be sending a hard copy of this letter along with my receipt for the items I bought, membership number and a photo of me in my red outfit with the glued down size label.. I had such a sad day today after this experience that I don't ever want to go back to a Costco store again. Someone needs to train Joseph and Noeila who are rude and unapologetic even when they are wrong and accusatory. Please keep in their employee file so they get poor reviews for unprofessionalism. They should be fired.
Great Costco! Add to the injury. You should be ashamed of yourselves! Horrible and unacceptable
Would you have been a great story to take to the media so that you can get a feel for your own medicine COSTCO
Hi Abigail. Sure appreciate hearing from you.
Not sure how to take your post, but would be interested to hear if you'd like to clarify. Was there an injury involved? Please explain what has taken place so that, as a community, we might help.
Appreciated reading about your concerns.
One must realize that, in order to keep prices at their lowest, it becomes the responsibility of every associate to protect against theft. Unfortunately, they do not know you personally, anymore than you knew them and their names.
Think of it like boarding a plane. Would you feel good about boarding a plane where the TSA agents were not diligent in checking each an every passenger? Are you insulted when you are pulled out of line to be more thoroughly checked? Hopefully not. By doing so, you know that all the passengers benefit. If you were to suggest that you were not to fly with that airlines again because of how you were more thoroughly screened, you'd lose the benefit of a great, and possibly less expensive airline.
Hopefully, after thinking about your experience from this perspective, you will be more accepting of what took place.
customer service
To whom it may concern, the more I go to the Costco in Clovis, Ca on Ashlan and peach I am encountering an increase in poor customer service. On 2/10/18 my sister and I went to go pick up an order at the deli section. We were about an hour late because we put in the order 2 weeks ago and forgot about the time. I even called to check on the order but there is no direct line to the deli so we couldn't find out.
When we arrived at the deli section I asked for my order then a worker came out and he was outrageous. He began yelling at my sister and I and went off about how we were late and if we ever order again we have to be on time. He also said "now we have no more rotisserie chicken to sell to the customers and my boss is going to yell at me thanks to you guys being late." Feeling super embarrassed my sister and I apologized. Dave left back to the packaging room and The two workers began preparing our rotisserie chicken for us. The two gentlemen apologized on Dave's behalf and said "sorry that guy is known for being mean." Turns out Dave was the supervisor and person in charge at the deli section . After receiving our items we walked past the packaging area and Dave stared down at my sister and I giving us the meanest look anybody can possibly give.
I will have to be honest and say I have never been this embarrassed in my life! He yelled at us as if we were not human and treated us with no respect in front of numerous customers. His peers even noticed his temper and stated "he is known for being mean" my question is do Costco really let supervisors yell at the customers like that? Because Dave surely did it with no problem. The thing is the items we were purchasing was for a funeral in which my father have recently passed. Going to Costco and already grieving then getting yelled at and stared down by the worker only made matters worse for me.
I feel something needs to be done and I do not want another Costco member to go through what I went through. Please address this issue with Dave and the supervisor.
Thank you
Hi Julie.
Not that being overly rude is proper for any department, but being timely is something one should also understand. Could you imagine if this manager would have wrapped up chicken that was over an hour old? I'm sure you would have been angry that your order wasn't fresh, not taking into account that being late created the problem. Respect should be something provided from both directions.
refresh plus eye drops
I have been buying this product (Refresh Plus) eye drops for sometime now, and find it difficult to use.
Obviously many users of this product are elderly, because as we age eyes have a tendency to dry out and require lubrication. Along with this condition is often arthritis or at least less strength in the fingers as required to administer eye drops.
The plastic containing Refresh Plus is difficult to use as the plastic is stiff and not as flexible as other comparable products with very similar ingredients.
Not only is this product a problem to use it is also less efficient because often the container can't be thoroughly emptied and the result is less product and greater expense for the same required dosage.
Other products have easier dispensing, greater dosage and larger dispenser opening.
Compare and see for yourself Costco. This is my last purchase of this product, and you don't have any others to purchase. There are others comparable and easier to use.
