the casier's bad service
Alcon,
Yesterday, July 03, we have experienced very ridiculous and rude service we have never been treated before. My wife and I finished the shopping at Costco, 4849 NE 138th Ave, Portland, OR97230, yesterday afternoon. At the cashier, we have been told by a lady the totally among of our expense is $3300! Actually we were not sure how much we expend, but for the common sense, we definitely know the "$3300" number is incorrect! When I point out the problem, the lady told us " this is your expenses, you would even pay more if there is no discount today" After I recheck the receipt, she just found out she put the WRONG number in the cash machine. Then she made the correction which was $879.83, the right number without even a word"sorry"! She just felt like it was so easy and so relaxed!
This is not the proper Costco service, I don't think this lady can represent all of the Costco personal, but the bad service did hurtful for both Costco and us. I still can remember her indifferent eyes from start to finish. Today is July 4, I am a active duty member in the US Army for 8 years. Unfortunately, I have to wrote this down when everyone are waiting for the fire works at this time. God bless American, and God bless Costco!

gift cards
recently purchased 2X50.00 gift cards
when receiver attempted to use one of the gift cards at Barrie, Ontario location, message on gas pumps required that they insert their membership card...they are not members, therefore were not able to use the gift cards
in the past, I have purchased over $600.00 in gift cards of which recipient's have had no problem using at gas pumps or in the warehouse
AT THE VERY LEAST, I should have been informed that a membership was required to use the gift cards
visa card
Very frustrated with the switch to Visa from Amex. Yes, in some ways the rewards are better - if you can get them. We had to put about $3500 on other than Costco Visa over the past 6 weeks after having our cards declined. I called, but because I am not the primary card holder, they wouldn't do anything for me. My spouse had to call. We are married and jointly own everything and live in community property state.
Trouble started in Tucson at lunch. Was told the card was too close to expiration date and was declined. What? I let my spouse know and she called. Supposedly fixed. Later when I tried to use to pay for $1900 auto maintenance, declined again. Freaked them out fearing I was a deadbeat who couldn't afford to pay for a new timing belt.
Told spouse again and she said hers had been declined as well. More calls. Oh, new credit cards had been sent and since we had a temp forwarding address, the cards were returned and the account suspended. No call to us to let us know. Got it reinstated and the new cards mailed direct to temp address to avoid their policy of no forwarding. Worked for a few days and then I got declined again in Las Vegas at my motel. Didn't call, just used another card.
Next stop was Salt Lake City. Declined at motel and restaurant. Needed gas and Costco was across the street. Worked for gas at Costco. Went to Costco the other day and successfully used in store for a small purchase. Today stopped to get gas at Costco - declined. We called. I'm a quiet redhead. My spouse says don't get the redhead mad. I'm mad. We asked the woman who answered if she would get a manager because we had already called 3 times and we were very upset at their customer service. Chris came on the line. What really got me was that he kept saying it was bec the cards were returned and we tried repeatedly to explain to him that we have the new cards - the cards being returned several weeks ago is not the problem. He says he has reinstated our account - again. But we don't trust it will remain instated. To his credit, when we complained about missing out on the cash back rewards because of the approximately $3500 we had spent and had to put on other cards, he offered to credit us with an additional $100. We trust that will happen.
But my point is, I have always traveled for work, now I am semi retired and travel for pleasure. I never have any trouble with any other card I have, and I never call to tell them I will be traveling. I have never had an issue with cards being forwarded. I never had trouble with Costco Amex. His final suggestion was that every time we are going to travel and need mail sent to a temp address, we can go online and put in that address. No. We have mail forwarding with USPS and we shouldn't have to change our address for any regular mail we need forwarded. Unacceptable and very vendor centric suggestion.
I was already upset at them for another issue that I did not have with my Costco Amex, so this is pushing me over the edge a little. It is different than the experience I have with any other credit card - both the issue I am not detailing here and the issue I derptailed for you hear. Costco does so many things so well, but you screed this one up. I have other Visa cards with great customer service, but they are not serviced by Citi. Btw I have experience in financial services and specifically with credit card processing. You picked a bad combination and I hear that Sam's picked up some customers as a result. We won't switch to Sam's - we've been with Costco and in Costco dominated locations for 20 years with a brief exception when we lived in TX and tried Sam's. Very glad Costco came in shortly after we moved in. But we may have to just go to the basic membership and forego exec benefits and credit card because this has been insanely frustrating and not worth being frustrated when I can get other cash back Visa cards, which I am now having to use at Costco. If we go that route, we would like a refund of $55 - we just renewed, but we are sort of curious to see if Chris has resolved our problem, whether you have had other complaints like ours, and whether you are going to stick with Citi.
costco members returns
I purchased chicken thighs by accident for my wife. Right after walking from the exit to the food court I realized it and went back to exchange for chicken drumsticks on 7/3/17 at 15:18.
"Sandy C. " of South San Francisco, CA Costco helped me and was very rude. Had I known Costco's policy I would have kept the chicken and not let them throw perfectly fine chicken in the garbage. She immediately processed my refund and when I asked about the refund she made rude condescending remarks to me such as: "Would you want to buy chicken that had left the building? I wouldn't." She could have been more professional and let me know upfront and I would've kept the thighs and purchased more chicken to not be wasteful. I felt uncomfortable after she started telling me in a mocking way: "Take a picture of what you are getting. Make sure its the right one..."
As a Costco member I feel I should be treated with more respect. "Sandy C." clearly needs to learn better customer service with paying customers.
Thanks
kirkland pistachios
Around may 2017, I purchased pistachios, and about 1 out of 4 had nothing in the shell. So I thought to myself that they must all be at the bottom of the bag, well at the bottom of the bag, no pistachios. I doubt I will buy those again, not worth it and don't have money to give away. I was with my wife who has the membership. Linda M. Cagney-Hirtz. I have a card now as well under Vincent Hirtz #[protected] I don't have a receipt, sorry. I would not mind being reimbursed, or my wife being reimbursed. thanks and have a great one.
kuni honda - costco pricing
I went into Kuni expecting to learn the costco pricing. Not only did they NOT know the price of the car, after 45 minutes of waiting they finally gave me a price that was no different than what was on the car. They walked back and forth just like I was buying a car even though I informed them I was NOT buying a car today and just wanted to know the costco price. They followed me out the door still trying to sell me a car at high dollar. This should never have taken 45 minutes to learn the costco price and I would expect far better from costco.
kirkland formula sold in canada
first of Thank you Costco for selling such wonderful products.
I have been a member of costco in US for more than 2 years before i moved to Canada. With the expectation of same quality product, i purchased costco membership.
But, I was surprised, Costco is selling sub-standard products in Canada like other retailers. Leave apart the other companies. Why is Costco selling sub-standard products of Kirkland brand.
I used to buy Kirkland Non-GMO formula for my baby daughter, which is no where found here. Kirkland formula being sold in Canada is sub-standard product with almost all ingredients in half the quantity. If you need, i still have a box purchased from Woodenville Costco (USA).
Why is this dual policy of selling sub-standard products just to make money. You sell the quality products and charge the required amount. But at least give that option to consumers. If this is what Costco is here in Canada, I did better return my membership and start purchasing same quality chinese products from Walmart. Atleast, i save in membership charges.
If possible, can this email be forwarded to highest level in Costco management so that somebody listens and actually takes some actions to bring quality products here in Canada as well.
employee complaint - costco richmond hill on elgin mills, ontario
I am complaining about an employee at your richmond hill, Elgin mills location in Ontario Canada. Her name is Jennifer and she was greeting customers and checking bills when we left. Today which is Sunday July 2, 2017 I went to Costco with my family. I was greeted by an employee named Jennifer who asked me for my membership but let about 12 people walk right past her without asking them for their membership cause she was too busy talking to another employee. When we left it was after 5 and the store was closing. My little 7 year old son asked Jennifer if she could put a smiley face on the bill. This is not a unusual request since they have done it without asking since my boys were babies. This is one reason my boys love Costco. Jennifer was so rude and said no to him cause she was too busy. The time it took her to tell him no she could have just made a happy face. I think this was so rude and unnecessary especially to a little boy. He asked her so politely and we were all shocked by her response. A little goes a long was and the fact she was so rude to an innocent little boy is unacceptable. I don't think she should be the person to greet the customers. This upset my son and our entire family. No need to be so rude. Please send this to the store manager and whoever else you see fit. Costco has so many amazing employees but Jennifer really was rude for no reason today.
service from cashier at fullerton, ca location
Was just given the utmost disrespect from a service cashier at costco in fullerton, cashier name was Debbie K. My husband and I were trying to handle our 2 toddlers a checkout, Debbie was quick to hurry us up and take our costco card, not even a hello or how are you not even a look at our faces. My husband then took his card to pay and she told him he couldnt because he wasnt on the card, the card is under my name what did it matter anyway I was there took my crying child down to pay. Receipt thrown at us not a care in the world for other human beings. Will make sure to avoid this cashier in the future.
costco food court
I went to Costco on 19001 n 27th Ave PHX, AZ I shopped at this location around 4:30 for about an hour. Afterwards I went to the food court to order a pizza and salad. As I ordered I felt the woman who was taking my order was annoyed and bothered as I finished she quickly read back my order and charged me when i tried to question her she gave me a dirty look so I just paid when I looked at he receipt and saw she had charged me two pizzas I nicely asked if I could get one of them off and add a salad she not only rolled her eyes at me but had the audacity to tell me I didnt ask for that before then she proceeded to yell for a manager, he came over, wasn't rude like her but another young lady from the back came and made a comment to them quiet enough for me to not hear and they all laughed. When I went to pick up my pizza the manager asked me for my receipt, I suspect it was so I would not know he cashiers name. I am a Mexican American and understand my accent is a bit hard to understand but I do not appreciate being treated poorly and being laughed at. I will not be shopping at his location again.
customer service
We have been loyal Costco members for years spending at least $300 every time when we come in the store. Today we were at the store with our son, who got to be out for the first time in days, after being very sick. He does not have a voice right now while he recovers from strep. Our kids favorite thing, that they look forward to most, is seeing what smiley face the person draws when checking our receipt. I don't think an ink smiley face is a lot to ask when we drop thousands of dollars at Costco a year. Today the lady said, you want a smiley face? He would not answer and felt shy so she dropped the receipt in my hand and said, you don't ask, you don't get one, and walked away from us. I guess this seems like a silly thing to get angry about but she wasn't the one who had to explain it to our crying 5 year old. I expect more from any human being, not just Costco employees. Needless to say, I was dissapointed.
costco versus ge and other big businesses
In 2012, I purchased a front loading clothes washer made by GE. By 2015, its bearing were worn. After the service call, they agreed to repair it at a reduced price that was even less than what I paid for their current repair (I am complaining about). The washer started leaking water a few months ago. First it was small amount and then it increased. We tried to diagnose it ourselves and made sure it was not the condensate coming from somewhere. I thought of getting rid of this lemon, but the service center expressed, we will make a service call for $99.00 and if you do not accept the repair, we will credit it towards the next purchase of a GE Washer. I agreed. The tech came with a screw driver and could not even open the screw (I had to give him my drill and drill bit to drill the screw out). He ran washer on spin/drain cycle and saw water leaking and without adequately checking its source made up his mind: it is gasket; and gave me a labor estimate of $230.00 plus price of the gasket to replace it. The office then gave me a price break on the gasket but only if I order it through them (not the Tech and take 1-year warranty instead of 5-year) and then they gave me a one time 25% discount on labor which motivated me to try to get it repaired. Gasket arrived at a cost of about $70.00 and the repairman came. He saw nothing wrong with the gasket and then noted that the top water hose had came out of the drum because the Tech who rebuilt it previously did not seal it. He pushed the pipe back; put a sealant and gave me a bill of $210.00 instead of $230. I told him, it was GE first technician's fault not to seal it and now your fault for wrong diagnosis and pushing the hose is not the same as replacing the gasket. If he did the diagnostic visit carefully, he would have pushed the hose back then. He ran out angrily saying I was giving you a discount and you do not want it; now I will make sure you pay the full price!.
Today, I spoke to one of the supervisors who did not listen to me at all and supported his tech and asked me to pay $183 $110.00 minus 25% plus $99 for the first visit. They took no responsibility for the poor assembly in December 2015, ma's-diagnosing the problem in the first visit and charged me almost half the price of a new washer for pushing the hose back into the outer casing of the drum. One can buy a similar washer from Costco and then return it after 3 years if it fails to perform for a full refund. May be Costco has spoiled me and it is unfair to expect GE to match Costco !
ma's-diagnosis should be missed diagnosis
Costco is the best business in the whole world
personal
There was an employ of your we saw out in the parking lot do drugs, my son saw him and pointed at the man I looked and it he was sniffing up lines it was clear as day he was in a silver 2 door Honda, he had a beard and when I saw him get out of the door his name tag read oscar r. I don't think you guys should have these type of people working for you. You guys are a great store and it kills me that my son had to see that, I have my own business and go there twice a week to re up. This incident hesitates me to go. I hope this get fixed and you take care of these people.
unethical behavior
Today, june 30th, 2017 at 10:30 am, I loaded the shopping car with two beach umbrellas that I had bought before, to return them because these are actually "beach umbrellas" blue and white stripes across, with the post ending in a black spiral to stack them in the sand. I wanted umbrellas for my patio tables.
When I was about to enter the store, I looked behind me because I was with my mother and saw her a little unstable. When I turned to enter, the shopping car with the umbrellas had disappeared. I called one of your associates to tell her what had happened, and she said, "i'm going to look for it". After, I went to the customer service counter and I tried to explain to another associate what had happened and she told me that I was outside the store, therefore costco was not responsible. I think this is not correct. Is true, I was not inside the store but I was standing in costco premises.
Please help me to recover my umbrellas or my money. My name is sonia e orlando. Member # [protected]. I've been a member since 1999 and I never had encountered any problem.
Sincerely,
Costco is very good, but theft is a theft and I donot know how can they help. Imagine if you got pick pocketed! Would you go to the police station or US government and say, I was in your territory and got pick pocketed; pay me the compensation! They will say go to your insurance; I will say the same to you! Costco is the best store in the whole world and do not try to pull it down
a rude employee
I asked an employee named Eric where was the sensible eco living garbage can and he said he wasn't sure so he said he will ask his supervisor Skip. Once Eric came back he wasn't sure what Skip said where the trash can were because of the noise in the background. Skip got rude and was like I've told you were it was! You walked passed it! Did you not see it!? Eric explained that he couldn't hear him due to the noise. Skip then said I can clearly hear you how is it you don't hear me. He was extremely hostile and rude to his employee.
Rude management
customer service
Last week I brought my younger cousins with me to my local Costco here in Orlando, FL on University Blvd. as I had been boasting about the store and they had never been there before. At checkout, I asked the woman if I could split the payment using two cards. She asked for the cards, then looked at it and said, " Wait who is Melanie Gutierrez, " I then answered "Me." She then proceeded to ask who the other two names were on the cards and I told her my cousins who were there with me. She then said she couldn't process the transaction and said, " Or they could get a Costco membership since they obviously like to shop here." I was completely appalled and then asked if the manager could approve it this one time since I was not aware. She then yelled out across the store to get her supervisors attention, at this point you can imagine the embaressment we felt standing there as clearly everyone was looking at us. He then came over and basically said the same thing and walked away. After this entire debacle, she said, " Well you can use your card to pay for it." I said, "I don't know why this had to be such a big deal, thats all you had to say." She then glared at me, I paid for my food and left. The lady who was checking my recepit asked how everything went and I said it was great until we checked out as the lady was so rude and embaressed me. She asked me if I would like to speak to the manager and I said yes. He then came over and I explained to him what happened and the entire time had a smirk on his face and said, "I have had this issue with her (Amy B.) before, I think she just doesn't know how to speak to people." Although he might have believed this to be true, thats not what I wanted to hear and I didn't appreciate him not trying to resolve the situation. I left extremely annoyed and quite frankly want to discontinue my membership because these people represent your company so poorly and I do not wish to be affiliated with that behavior. I respect whatever rules your company has and I expect to be treated as such. I am an adult, not a child.
kirkland pistachios
Just bought a bag of pistachios from Costco. Located in Concord, ca. The brand is Kirkland. As I was eating, I found a maggot inside one of the pistachios that I was about to put in my mouth! The pistachios also tasted a bit weird but I didn't think too much of it until I saw the maggot! Very disturbing! And the horrible part is that I have a few to my 5 yr old before noticing anything.
lamb and rice canned dog food
Item 38680 bar code # [protected].
I was about to feed this product to my dogs when I noticed hard chunks of blue plastic pieces in the food. I bought 3 cases of this food and opened 5 more cans to find the same blue plastic pieces in all the the cans that I opened. Your customer service line is a freaking joke and I want something done about this. I have taken video and picture documentation while opening a few cans for proof. If you guys won't do anything then I am sure media outlets and you tube are the next best thing. I am not looking for handouts of any sorts so please don't take this that way. I am however, very upset that the food that you are providing contains things that could harm my animals.
inexperienced opticians and incorrect glasses and contacts
October, 2016 - present.
Costco optical on 12300 W Dodge Rd, Omaha, NE 68154, USA.
I went in for an eye exam. They didn't have the exact trials because I have toric lenses so they instead gave me something "close enough". After wearing contacts for >10 year and never having an issue, I figured they knew what they were doing.
The lenses were fine, I ordered glasses, and later ordered contacts. Once I got the contacts, I noticed immediately that I could not see - I couldn't wear them even 30 minutes before I had to remove them from eye strain. I went back to Costco optical and they told me to talk to the team that sells contacts.
In speaking to that team, at least 5 times they told me (different representatives, different visits) i) there is no possible way that the optician gave me an incorrect prescription because I am able to see out of my glasses, and ii) my astigmatism increased greatly and couldn't possibly be an error, and iii) I am longer a good match for my brand of contact lenses and have to try something new. They ordered me trials, same prescription, new brand. 2 weeks later they still didn't arrive even though they had on file they were ordered. They placed the order again - 2 weeks later I tried them, exact same issue as the original brand.
Asked for a refund because it had been months and nothing was getting resolved. Every time I stopped in there was a miscommunication with the representative. I would ask the representative what they had on file from my prior visit, and it was what the former representative 'interpreted' (her astigmatism increased, she is no longer a good fit for her current brand of contacts, etc.), and not what I was stating: my prescription is wrong.
I finally got a second eye exam with another optician. No idea what prescription she gave me, but she said "I increased XYZ. No idea why it would make sense to do that, but I am doing it". Of course, same issue.
Again, asked for a refund. Had to come in yet a different day to speak to the manager. Manager insisted she would fix the problem and have me see "Dr. Brown".
Dr. Brown was condescending and didn't even explain what the issue was: they made a mistake and changed the cylinder from -.25 to -1.25!
I ended up just asking them to write me the exact same prescription that I had come to them with, from a different optician NOT associated with Costco, so at the very least I could walk away with a current prescription.
In "making it right", they gave me 8 contacts per eye of 'trials' instead of the 12 contacts per eye that I purchased!
And they did NOT correct my glasses.
June 29th, and my eyes hurt SO BAD - and I just now realized it is from the ridiculous prescription that I got from Costco optical, for which I paid over $200 for these glasses.
The two ladies that originally conducted the eye exams not only rushed through it, but the first actually got upset with the receptionist for scheduling her (during OPEN hours) because she wanted to go home! Dr. Brown was a joke. I am sure he is a nice guy, but I already told them walking in that my old prescription worked - at the very least he could have acknowledged it and just double-checked it. I was only going through the motions at that point because the manager said she would make it right - thought I would at least give it a chance.
I'm going to burn these glasses tomorrow to at least get some satisfaction out of this ridiculous, expensive, and complete waste of time for the >20 visits I had to make because the "right person" wasn't there to help, or the contacts weren't in, etc.
ava at the entrance of the brookhaven costco location
Hello,
I am manager for a business located inside the town Brookhaven shopping center where you all have a location. Today I sent a couple of my employees in to pick up lunch. Upon arriving Ava was at the front. The employees I sent did not have my card however We purchase a good deal of our operational supplies from you all and my employees are in there everyday. She proceed to become extremely rude raising her voice and telling them they could not buy lunch without the card. However multiple businesses in our shopping center send in employees to pick up food from the food court. When this was mentioned she said they only allow that because those businesses give them discounts. I find this very insulting as we spend 1000s with you monthly purchasing operational inventory from you that supplies 4 of our locations. This employee was so rude that we requested to speak with a manager. She proceeded to get on the intercom and yell "I need a manager not a supervisor but a manager" causing a scene and further embarrassing my staff. She yelled and continued to make rude comments even after the manager came out to resolve the situation. We were able to get our lunch thanks to this nice manager but he seemed like he didn't want to say anything at all to the irate employee which gave her freedom to continue to make rude comments even as we were leaving.
